Our defense stunk. That call on Emerson could've gone either way but it wasn't a bad call
That was an absolutely awful call.
Did exactly what referees are told not to do, impact the outcome of the game. For one it was not holding, it also was not thrown until the pass was incomplete which lets you know he would not have thrown it if it was complete

Did look like the snap was bad - but I still don?t like the switch unless Ruiz was hurt.
But our defense didn?t get the job done and neither did our fg kickers. That?s like Memphis in that we just flat lost that one

Here is how to sum up the game.
We missed 9 easy pts on fgs.
The refs extended the game after their player slipped down.
Our defense was gassed.
Rogers did what was needed. The Offense did what was needed. Our defense was soft and slow to the ball. We missed big time tackles in the backfield, and are blitzing from the sideline. It takes them forever to get to the QB and when they get there, whiff.

Boys, Boys, Boys...You could see this coming from a mile away.....Not sure why some of you are shocked.....It's typical MSU.....Always has been, always will be......
You are 100% correct. Truest statement of this entire thread. The entire athletic staff of this university are grossly overpaid with the exception of one group. Guess which one that would be?

Also, he just slipped. And the throw always 12 yards away from him and it hit the ground at the same time his knee did on the slip. Uncatchable.

To a fg and we brought full blitz and got burned

Uncatchable doesn't matter on a holding call. Emerson has got to get his hands off him when the ball is thrown. The receiver fooled the Ref no doubt, but misplay by Emerson. Just like the Memphis game.

If that is a hold then there is holding on every single snap of every single game. Nobody has ever ever covered anyone without touching them. There is no db coach in the world who would ever agree with that take

There was not enough contact for that call. WR fell down. Emerson is playing like a physical CB does. That is what Bama does every single play and don't get called for it, even worse.
That was a homer call on home field against their star player with game on line call is what that was.

If you think for a moment that all eyes weren?t on Burke and that tying up with the DB and ending up on the ground wasn?t going to elicit a call, you are insane or foolish. As much as I hate it, our CB needs to understand that.

There is nothing wrong with having your hands on a receiver, it happens on every play. He was not holding or impeding the asshole in any way, but the asshole fell down so the ref throws a flag that should not have been thrown, thus causing us to stay on the field. By the way the asshole receiver should have not been in the game anyway.

Lost a lot of enjoyment of watching SEC football because any close game is determined by inept SEC refs. And if we are involved the call always goes against us.

Ok go coach them how to play it better then bc you cant do it much better than he did it without just turning him loose. Its a shit call and it was not thrown till the ball was already on the ground. That right there shows you that the ref had to think about it, they are told if you have doubt dont call it

I think we are the better team. I think we played pretty good ball on offense and defense. We were terrible in the kicking game. Field goals and punting.
BTW Ark got the better calls. All day.

Man...you are so right!!!! There's some absolute silliness in this thread.
The refs blew the most important call of the game on the play before they scored. And right in front of the ref too.
You get that call and the odds of them scoring go waayyy down.

Long time lurker on this forum. This game made me register.
The game threads are comical. Most of you flip flop emotions every other play. This team fought until the end. They could have easily given up and laid down countless times during the game.. but they kept scrapping.. Unfortunately we left it in the hands of the refs. The SEC officiating has been atrocious this year across the board.
Proud of how far we have come this year. We are a competitive team and improve every week. Just have to fine tune some aspects of the game.
If you cannot see that the program is headed in the right direction, you need to think back to the last year Jo MO was here. Leach has us MILES ahead. Will Rogers is the best passing QB we have ever had and we have a group of receivers that are learning how to settle in zones and get open.
Just wanted to give my thoughts after pacing around outside in my boxers after that Heartbreakers. Sucks, but we are still improving and that makes it a little easier to swallow.

When will we just get past the victim snake bit bs? He shouldn?t have been playing, he was an asshole for getting a call, the refs, the refs, the refs.
We played well enough to win. We just didn?t do it. That?s on us.
Every OC will tell you that their scheme is unstoppable if executed to perfection. I don?t feel this one is high scoring enough in the modern game. That being said, we should have won today.

I knew when we left more than 2 minutes left we gave them a chance to drive the field.
Kudos to our offense though to put us in position to tie the game and go into overtime.
Defense did what they needed to except for the all out blitz on a 3rd and 8 where Ark scored a TD. We always get burned doing that.
Special teams sucked it up.

Some of the posters on here are habitual complainers. You've got a complaint for every situation. If McCord makes it then good thing Leach took Ruiz out. If Ruiz misses then why did Leach put him back out there? How about the bobbled snap? How about the bad penalty called on Emerson that should've ended the game? The Leach hate on this board is as toxic as political threads.

A really good receiver is dang near impossible to cover with today?s rules. It just speaks to the fact that you don?t understand that and feel that it?s excusable when the game is on the line. If a DB ties up with a WR and the WR goes down, they?re probably getting the call. That?s just the way it is. Why do you think people throw on do or die plays more than run? Because if you don?t make the play, you?ve got a great shot at getting a call. 🤷🏼

I agree. The receiver slipped. And Emerson downed the punt vs Memphis. But you have to control what you can. Toss the ball to ref. And get your hands off the receiver. Emerson was called for holding earlier in the game as well.

I was pissed for a few minutes but I'm over it. Winning on the road in the SEC is tough. I was hoping for 3-1 to finish the year and we still have a chance since Auburn got their ass beat today. Even though that's not likely maybe we finish 2-2 and a win over Ole Miss is always good. I think Leach can win big in the SEC. He's got a few more years to prove it.

Auburn is the luckiest team in college football though and I can remember many wins due to them getting all the breaks.

Hahaha. Lets teach our corners to know he has to take his hands off of him 2 secs earlier, and also to not put our hands on anyone on 4th down with sprint out coming to me while I have outside leverage on an out route. Oh yeah not to mention the game is on the line. He played that exactly how he should have played it. He is looking at the ball and he has his hands low not high. He stayed outside when he had outside leverage and made the WR go through him to get to the ball. There is nothing more that he could have done.
Now the tackling on his scramble at the end was absolutely pathetic and even when Watson tackled him he threw a chicken wing at him. The defense did not play well on that drive but that call absolutely affected the outcome of the game and refs are trained to not do that.

To me Arnett needs to play with another corner rather than 3 safeties on the field. Too many big plays with the safeties getting burned trying to cover a WR in cover 0. A corner should be out there at minimum.

And 6-6 or 7-5 is what most people were expecting this year. With a slight chance of 8-4 with the right breaks.
