My focus is on:

1) WR's - five seniors departing, that's big shoes to fill
2) Defense - the whole thing. I was so sick and tired of Wilson's read and react scheme. I want an attacking defense that does its best to (and actually does) disrupt offenses.

2a) Cornerbacks - We lose two guys to the NFL, big hole to fill. Love, Redmond, Jiles, Cox are all talented, but none have 3 years experience starting in the SEC
2b) DE - can we actually pressure the quarterbacks?
2c) LB - What can BROWN do for us?

3) Special Teams - that topic has been very quiet this spring. How are the kickers doing?

Defense, defense, defense, and Special Teams. With a tough schedule this season, and likely a lot of close games, defense and special teams is where our bowl fate will be determined in my opinion.

I think the offense will be as good or better if indeed we are running Tyler under center more. That should help our running game and open up the play action passing....so I expect better offense, but "as good" as last year at minimum.

The D will be the Key.

it might be a little misleading because all of the O & D starters won't be together as a functioning unit ... I was more interested in both O/D lines but will have to settle for watching individual linemen instead the line as a whole ... rcvrs should be able to give us an idea of what to expect ... other than that what can we really tell about the team while it's split in half ... Russell won't get hit and the other QB (whoever that is) may give us a glimpse but other than that this is a time to recognize individual talents

I think I saw a tweet from Joe Galbraith that said it would be the 1's playing the 1's - O vs D.

great ... makes better sense that way

Exactly. What can you learn when 1s play the 2s? Of course the 1s are better. If they weren't, they wouldn't be 1s. lol. It gives you zero indication of improvement. I want to see D. I want to see the D attack more. The more push we get on the QB will make it easier on those new members of the secondary obviously.

WR and Rb are two of the easiest positions on O to learn. The talent we have at WR is just as good as those leaving, some of it much better in fact. I am not worried about the offense.

I expect to see nothing of substance worth being excited about. The whole deal is just for fun.

Remember last year when The Quay and J Rob looked real impressive? Like they were gonna gets reps in the fall and give us something to be excited about? How about Oneal Wilder a few years ago making big plays and catching everything in his zip code?

Spring football is just cheap porn to tie us over until we can go on some real dates later. Later will be a lot more fun and at the same time we'll see that supermodels are for celebrities instead of joe fan.

Rojo and Jameon caught more passes in the 2012 Spring Game than they caught in the 2012 season

We wont see alot- but you can look in the trenches and see how we do running the ball from under center

So, you are saying that the spring game = Danny's?

This year expect to see us use a formation called "ace f-wing". It puts Tyler under center, 2 TEs (I've faced a single TE & H-back in my days from a similar formation) and only 2 WRs who are playing next to each other who are split out off the TE/H-back (who is playing off the LOS). Most of the plays are of a "west coast" nature with the TEs/H-back securing seal blocks, chips for running plays. And then in pass plays the two run shorter read routes. Routes like stick, smash, corner or posts. This offense could be ideal for Tyler though. The throws are quick or off of PA (play action). I think that with the development of the TE position into a serious blocking threat, it COULD do damage based on how effectively we run the ball out of the formation, Tyler's timing with the WRs & how hard we get off the ball as an OL. The plays ran out of there are standard "west coast" style plays. You have your draw, toss, blast, counter, some TE option route plays and then add some PA flavor and some down the field threats and you are looking at a stabilizing plays. And honestly THIS year that is what we will need is a offense that can grind people out. Forget BIG PLAYS we need to get to some smash mouth football and take the guessing game out of Tyler's hands. I know he's a SR, but we need to channel our inner Jackie Wayne & rest on our running game & our ability to play defense!

I am REALLY liking the sound of this offensive scheme this year. I knew it would take either Dak running Mullen's normal system, or else a complete offensive overhaul to play Tyler, in order for our offense to improve. Well, it looks like we're going with option B, and I never thought Dan would do it, but I'm glad he is. It shows me how badly he wants to win and win Now. We have the QB, TE's, OL, and RB's to have a lot of success with this new system in my opinion. I'm anxious to see it.

I agree actually. Our kicking game was unreliable, and I think I've heard that we've struggled in practice - albeit with longer 40 or so yard field goals. However, you need to be able to get points in that range fairly often, especially in close games. Last year, our offense did struggle mightily but we just couldn't stop anybody consistently. We don't have to have a record-breaking offense if we can get substantially improved defensive play.

Basically, Auburn from the Tubbs years and Jackie Wayne from his heyday. If you can play stout D, you can have an average offense. But you need solid special teams to go along with all of it. LSU wins its games on defense and ST. Their offense hasn't been anything to write home about in years.
