View Full Version : Conference USA next in line to get gutted

AAC expects applications from UAB, Charlotte, Rice, FAU, UTSA, and North Texas this week.

That brings some solid markets to the AAC (not necessarily amazing programs although there's some potential there) and is going to really hurt CUSA. They better start scrambling soon because that would take out half their league and leave them scrambling to stay alive.

They've got some options to bring some teams into the fold but that's gonna be tough for them as a conference to survive if all those teams leave, which the expectation is they would.

Yeah, no USM really hurts. That has to be a shot to the nuts.

Usm should really drop down to d2 or fcs or whatever it is now.

Southern Miss would make a lot of sense in the Sun Belt, which has become a better conference than CUSA anyway, and probably about as good as the new AAC.

This. Sun belt is their best option to remain relevant in D1.

It wasn't that long ago USM would play anyone anywhere anytime. They should have never fired Jeff Bower. I remember them playing #4 ranked California and nearly beating them and it was enough to knock California out of the BCS championship talk.

I would go FCS as well. You can compete for playoffs and a national title. It would bring excitement.

It's been confirmed on Twitter.

Southern Miss to the Sun Belt.
