I called this as soon as he took the job 4 years ago. He'll win, but not enough to stave off the crazies. He doesn't recruit well enough to satisfy the recruitniks who obsess over all that.

He does a good job of getting the most out of what he has, but he isn't a good enough coach to overcome the recruiting differences between his teams and the better teams in the league.

He'll last another season or two before he's canned unless he goes against a decade+ of his body of work and starts out-scheming teams who have higher recruiting profiles.

They weren't a complete shit show - they had just come off back to back East titles and that wasn't good enough for them. So they found a way to undermine a coach and tank a season to make a change. Mullen took over a talented team - so talented he went 10-3 and 11-2 in his first 2 seasons. 8-4 last year and probably 8-4 or worse this year won't get it done in the eyes of the UF crazies.

I won't argue they are crazy and will put heat on him. He's really close to being 6-0 this year with a big roster turnover. If they don't stick with him through the Richardson era they will miss out of at least another one or two East titles.
