whether we had the personnel to run or no. Amazing that Dan took the nuts and bolts and made a decent team in 09 and a good team 10.

This seems like a similar situation with the Air Raid, still I do blv the form of this would work if we'd simply commit to running the ball much more

You just have to adapt, period. You have to make adoptions to the types of players you have and their skill levels. You have to adapt to the skill of the defense and what they're throwing at you and what they're giving you. You can prefer a system, but you can't be so tightly coupled to it that you just run the same thing over and over whether it works or not. Thats Croom and Moorhead stuff...

The current situation is nowhere near Croom & the offense moves the ball within the scheme significantly better than we ever did with Moorhead.

It may takes some adjustments to score more points, but we're clearly getting better

Equating Leach with Croom is asinine.

It doesn't take a lot of nuts and bolts to run the QB every play.

I remember before a LSU game Sly said we're gonna run it no matter what and we did; sumpthin like1.5 per and of course we got our ass kicked.

Don't you know that what's we have always done and should continue to do so. Apparently, that's our "identity".

The team Dan inherited in '09 had 9 future nfl players on the defensive side and 2 on the offense. Dan being a run oriented coach had one of the best RBs in State history toting the rock. Aside from Tyson Lee, Dan had everything he needed to run his style of offense. Comparing what Dan did vs what Leach is doing isn't fair.

I believe the Air Raid has a higher ceiling than what we've ever had here before. We never beat Alabama with Dan and most years we we're absolutely rocked. There were multiple times we scored no TDs or less than 10 points. Ole Miss nearly beat them 3 years in a row by throwing the ball. We're never going to run over teams like them or Georgia. Aside from one year (2014) I never believed we would have a shot to beat Alabama and not saying we'll do it this year but I actually think with this style of offense we have a better shot than ever.

Our identity is a physical football team. That doesn't mean 3 yards and a cloud of dust. It means we could line up and get 3 yards if needed but we also threw the ball. Jackie had a good balanced offense that passed well in 94. Dan ran when he could, 2009-2014, 2016. Threw when he could, 2012, 2015.

Leach.... you are 5 down linemen, 4 wide and a RB almost every play. Only variation is 2 back, 3 wide. You are running 1 of 5,6 plays regardless of situation. It may work. The triple option worked for GaTech in 2014. But the "air raid" is as one dimensional as the wishbone State ran in 1980-1986ish and 90-92.

And people talking about adjustments. Hahaha. Just pray we clean up special teams and penalties.

It's very hard to run currently when the defense has 10 players within 10 yards of the LOS. They have no fear of us going over the top with a deep pass so they're stacking the box to stuff the run or blow up the check down pass. They figure even if they throw it deep it'll either be overthrown, dropped, or broken up. It's a smart gamble to do until we prove a willingness to consistently try.

Yeah, this offense is no where near being as bad as it was under Croom. Croom scoring offenses were ranked in the 100's all but 1 season. Yes, Leach was in that zone last year, but thru 4 games this season we are #73 with a 28.3 average
It will be interesting to see how that adjusts thru the meat of the schedule. Since 2009, our average rank has been 60th.

Another interesting stat to watch will be Total Offense. Right now we are 48th at 426 ypg. That is very consistent with our average ranking since 2009 of 58th.

And yes, I know W's are all that matter. I just like to be able to compare shit-tasticness across time.

I think this is correct.. It's tough for Rogers to find an open receiver when there are so many playing pass defense. Also, I'm not convinced our receivers, Williams excluded, are giving the effort they should be giving to get open. Rogers had plenty of time against LSU to find someone open, but he looked and looked and couldn't find anybody, so he checks down to the RB who has a guy waiting on him and maybe gains 2 or 3 yards.

I feel pretty sure this is Leach's last year.

OM won the 1st one because the Bama Off Coord, Kiffen, take the foot off their necks goes to passing in the 3rd QTR and blows it, Thew were about to ho up by 21. The next year 5 turnovers around the 20 didn't help/

To be honest, that west coast offense works fine. Some of the best NFL teams to ever exist ran it to Superbowl win after Superbowl win.

It could have worked here too except for one thing, Croom had no clue how to teach it to college kids. He was used to having an NFL ready QB. Leach has proven he knows how to teach this system better than anyone alive to college aged players.

Do I see progress? Yes, but not enough to satisfy but it is progress. I am patient by nature but I also hate losing.

I think the ceiling is much higher under Leach than it ever was under Mullen. Unfortunately, so is the floor lower. When his air raid offense doesn't work well, they can lose to some bad teams.
