I know it's a jumbotron thread, but I called that stupid ass play and knew what was going to happen. We ran about 4 times in 5 or 6 plays, moving the ball great. First down, I knew we were about to throw a stupid pass instead of continuing to do what was working. Same shit different game.

I bet we're not getting shit for those commercials either. I bet the athletic department would be embarrassed if people knew the details of the deals that have destroyed the stadium atmosphere since the jumbotron was installed. I don't have any inside info on this; I just can't imagine that the money has the significance of the pain that getting it causes.

The thing about it is I bet those ads were sold on a per year basis. In other words if something on the jumbotron sucks the life out of the stadium it's going to suck the life out of the stadium for the entire year.

It must have been REALLY bad last night, because I saw bad comments all over twitter after the game. I thought maybe Will was exaggerating a bit, but apparently not. Stricklin's twitter feed was littered with complaints, ha.

We need to give him some suggestions. Maybe we should start a thread of ideas and constructive criticism. That way we can tweet him a link o the thread. Scott is pretty good about taking fan advice....even if it takes him a while sometimes.

For those that were not there, it is hard to describe just how bad it was. It makes complaints in previous games look like childish whining.

It's like someone made a bet on how many commercials they could jam in starting in pregame all the way to the final whistle.

Damn pregame was sensory overload. There was about 12 minutes prior to the game where is was non-stop back to back commercials. I estimate in that time they played 24 commercials back to back with no gaps in between. It was painful to the senses, and a foreshadow of how the video board would go all night.

I am convinced something is up. Maybe a pissed off employee was making a point. Maybe we fell behind on how many commercials we have to air this year (and it that's the case expect a repeat for the Egg Bowl).

Whatever the case, last night was a major strike against Scott Stricklin. People should be fired immediately over this. Maybe Scott too. This was humiliating for our university. It was so bad I honestly think Scott should have left wherever he was to go to the control room to ask what the hell was going on.

Scott has been repeatedly made aware of video board problems and instead if getting better, last night it goes train wreck in spectacular fashion.

And that is really puzzling because the previous game (UK) was the best video boarding in years.

I agree with this.. We score .. and it is followed with this.. If we HAVE to show commercials then ok.. But they can be used at times during the game that doesn't KILL any momentum we have..

They should have a quota on the commercials... for the season. The last game(s) of the year should be played out. We shouldn't even have to run a single commercial by the egg bowl. Also, they could shorten the commercials and still charge the same thing. Cut them down to 5 or 10 second ads at most.

Play the mottos we use on the jumbtron. Our State. Relentless Effort. More Cowbell.

They should have a list or a single song for several situations: 3rd downs, 3rd down stops, 4th downs, 4th down stops, kickoffs, KO return, TDs, FGs, turnovers, etc... They also need to let the band work in-sync with the video board. Pump the sound through it and show live shots of the fans, band, team, etc...

Do we even have a video director like they do for TV broadcasts? Someone's got to be managing the camera's the cut to and calling the game, right?

I have no idea....that's one of the things that gets the stadium pretty loud before the game...but of course, they didn't play it. Also, not on the jumbotron note, but kudos to the FMB for their halftime show last night. That was one helluva show and even got Holly Rowe tearing up on the sidelines (as she says on Twitter). But I digress, the Jumbotron needs work. Also, the jumbotron on the expansion side will be the same size as the current board...so there will be no jr. Jumbotron. Just Jumbo 1 and Jumbo 2.

Does anyone here go to other SEC stadiums? I go to Bama once a year. The pregame is incredible as the crowd about goes into a frenzy by kickoff. They also manage the rest of the game well.

I'll add to this subject the purchased the DVD's of the games. Beside the advertised logo in the lower right hand corner during the action, the replay of each play is has a full screen commercial shot before and after each replay. It makes the DVD unwatchable for me. They ought to pay us to watch it rather than charge us for something unwatchable.

Yeah I went to Oxford last year. We play more commercials in one quarter than they play in a game. Their inferior screen is used to pump the fans and players. They frequently rerun big plays and hits (from THAT game, not shit 10 years ago) and show player reaction & smack on the sidelines. There is lots of good stuff on their screen.

We have fumbled badly. Bad enough for this to be one of a few reasons that usher Scott Stricklin out the door.

I go to most. We play the most commercials. Our entire gameday seems to revolve around our tv. Nobody elses does. Their jumbotrons are an afterthought. We also play our commercials with loud volume instead of silent ads.

Every time the defense came out on the field in the second half they would form a huddle with Collins in the middle pumping them up and the crowd would go crazy with them. The first time they did that the video board played some rap music to go with it and the place lost it. Well every drive after that the defense was getting pumped to shitty commercials.
