When in week 3 of that's sport's regular season and in the same week the best team plays at a top 10 on the road, the number 1 story line of the week is that the best team's coach like Deez Nuts jokes?
Don't get me wrong, I like Deez Nuts jokes as well; but the fact that Nick Saban liking them as well is the number 1 story of the week tells me all I need to know about where the sport is at from a competitive standpoint.
College football can be better and bigger than this. It has all the ingredients to basically be the NFL yet, due to the rules allowing monopolies to form, we're stuck with the same media, covering the same coach every year and that's led to Deez Nuts jokes being the number 1 story line in a week when a showdown, national title race altering game should be the story line.
