Deal comes in at $3.65 million, which is about $400,000 under slot but makes sense.

Great job by Will. He deserves a big pay day after what he did. Good luck to him and I hope he can make his way through the ranks quickly.

I had always assumed that the signing bonus was just that....the amount you received for signing your contract. Sign your name, collect your bonus (less taxes, social security contribution, agent fees, etc.). Is that not correct?

It?s 100% guaranteed once signed. Most teams split into 2 years so that the player gets taxed less. Some go a little longer. If Bednar took it all now he would get less than half of that number. #fairshare

Yeah I could see portions of it being deferred for tax purposes but just always assumed they received the entire bonus even if they never played a game for whatever reason (for reasons out of their control). That's good.
