With these new NIL rules in place players are signing endorsement deals all over. We are not going to be able to compete in football and basketball but we should go all in on getting our baseball players endorsements. If we do that, we can even the playing field and go on a dynasty run and get another title or 2 these next 5 years.

Yep. Could be our counter to the Vandy scholarship.

The issue is, everyone has this ability. Vandy included. Their alumn are filthy rich.

What are we going to do to compete with big markets with large companies?

Yeah but there's a diminishing return factor at play.

Others have the ability but not the desire in college baseball that we do. We need to get creative

I just don?t see how this ends well for small markets.

For baseball we will be one of the best markets for players to actually make money. Our fans will support their brand. That ain't happening in Nashville

We're probably toast in football, but we're not, nor ever, will win titles in football. We have to protect our baseball program at all costs

Baseball is a different animal than football. Any player that wants to play in front of large crowds in the best facility in all of college and without a doubt the most passionate fan base in a family atmosphere in America will come here. We need to recruit more nationally in my opinion.

I hear what you are saying, but make no mistake football pays the bills and all programs are affected if our football program is significantly harmed by this.

Yeah. It sucks it. Good thing we got our title in. If it wasn't for this there would be no doubt we'd be getting many more. I'm sure we will win some more but this adds to the difficulty for us

How would it harm our FB program? We recruit near the bottom the conference already. Paying players will be an above the table, more efficient version of the under the table payments made now; it's not going to make us suddenly go from 11th to 14th in recruiting. And if you think our relative ranking will stay the same, but the top classes will get even better thereby separating them from us even more... well I'd just ask if you've ever looked at class rankings, because the gap can't get wider than it is already.

No paying players will just make it more efficient for the boosters and players. Currently boosters are spreading say 100k across 10 promising players in the form of getting mama's car fixed, paying a bill, giving a little spending cash after a good HS game etc to "show the love", and how much the program values them. But a couple other SEC programs do the same so nobody knows who will pick what school, or even which of those 10 prospects will be wanted time they're seniors. Now that 100k will be given to the local car dealership, and whoever ends up being the #1 target can be told "If you play for us, there's a 100k endorsement deal for you". If the #1 target gets an offer for 150k from another school, boosters can decide if the #1 target is worth it, of if they should offer the 100k to the #2 guy. Boosters love it because they don't have to do nearly as much work spending years following every promising potential recruit, recruits love it because they can get every cent they're worth, big programs love it because they can offer more than the rest of us, I love it because the NCAA can't hammer us for a $200 impermissible benefit as the NCAA turns a blind eye to the Chargers in Tuscaloosa, and ultimately, the CFB landscape remains unchanged: Those who spend the most on recruits will get the best. Now it's bags under the table, soon it will be a 30 second add. Either way it's how it works, I don't see much change to the status quo overall

This is the new reality. You either adapt or die and we should absolutely corner the NIL market for college baseball period and if we don't we are whiffing on a major opportunity.

Will the casinos be able to sponsor any players ?

A huge majority of our team won't get jack crap from any sponsors.

Universities are rolling out rules on banning endorsements with gambling sites, alcohol, tobacco etc..

That's right, but at a place like TX or A&M, they have enough large alumni owned businesses to endorse every player on every team in some way.

Teams in big cities will end up dominating us. Starkville is a small town. I'm worried about it myself. We will see though. I do say we do whatever it takes to stay at top in baseball. We can go 8-4 in football and keep winning big in baseball that would be awesome.

Between that and the endless transfers, and wokeness, yes. You're about to see an exodus in fan support across the board. Glad we won our title, especially baseball, before the downfall.

We can use it to our advantage in some cases. You tell the 4 star in state kid that Alabama has a lot of big fish getting the NIL money. He will be bigger at State

Could be but taking the Mizzou example. In St Louis and KC, the Tigers are considered a cute "little league" thing. An obscure STL Cardinal or retired Cardinal is much more valuable for endorsement that a school boy.

Miami? The Hurricanes almost give away tickets, zero demand and players are obscure to the community. The Illini or Northwestern Wildcats get the same coverage in Chicago as Northwest Rankin or JA in Jackson, MS.

College version of "Big" Market is Tuscaloosa or Upstate South Carolina. The biggest factor is installed Alumni base - so that makes Exclusive Private schools less valuable. Also, there will be a big and potentially divisive Tournament effect.

Think about 1990's Tennessee Vols. 99% of the love and Credit went to Peyton Manning. The rest are backup dancers to the fan base. The great linemen, running backs, and linebackers of those teams would all share the 1% remaining endorsement. Also huge, people love the homers and face of program kids. That will potentially create lots of resentment and ill will.

I don?t see any company worth it?s salt risking endorsement deals to high signees and under classman that haven?t proved any value except on signing day coverage. Your upper classman may have some marketing value but I really think most of these kids will be brought back down to reality with their marketability.

I think NIL is going to be the beginning of the super conference that Jackie used to warn about. There will be about 12-16 teams that will be so big with NIL, it will be impossible for rest of field to compete. For example, what if Google sponsored the entire Stanford football team, Amazon-Washington, Dell-Texas, etc.? That would basically be the minor league for NFL just on clicks to those sites.

This. They may have to revisit this and put some caps on how much endorsements are allowed.
