I agree. He has had chance after chance to get it done and hasn't. Opportunities eventually run out no matter how talented you are. Talent doesn't always equal the mentality to get it done. I hope at some point he figured it out but it won't be here. Wish him all the best.

Analysis of Championship Squads UCLA, Virginia, Costal Carolina, others ... you can win the NC with your 6 best arms. Some schools have done it with just 2 starters. From that:

(1) MacLeod
(2) Bednar
(3) Sims
(4) Harding
(5) B Smith
(6) Johnson

Bubble selection
(7) Tullar (may be higher, cause he is a lefty)
(8) Simmons

If we must
(7) Stinnett
(8) Fristoe

Yeah, this prolly does not match up with Lemonis. Fristoe is much higher, Stinnett is prolly higher, and Lemonis probably does not think Brandon Smith is his best #3 starter, like I do.

That’s not the MSU way, but that’s what others schools have done. UCLA was almost a 4 man show. Virginia had a boy named Szorb or something that basically carried the team

Yeah a lot of championship teams have done it with limited number of good pitchers. Coastal Carolina recently had one good starter and that wild haired crazy reliever and they won it all.

ETA though it has better to have a ton of elite arms lol

I think all the teams are elite in Omaha - it has (Empirically) been about having a dandy 1/2 dozen that are absolutely On

Yeah it's definitely a matter of who's on at that point.

Kentucky beats Vanderbilt 7-5, making us the #3 seed in the SEC Tournament. Obviously the goal isn't to win the SECT, but if we go deep, we won't have to face Arkansas until the championship game. We also won't have to face the 5 vs. 12 winner (likely OM) like we would have had we been the #4 seed.

Mac and Beldar have been pretty inconsistent every other week. Rarely have they both put together great performances the same weekend. Lets hope this weekend is duplicated for the post-season.....because if so, we're gonna be a tough out.

This is so true. We haven't had a staff on for 3 games. We might have with Bama had Harding started. Mac and Bednar been inconsistent. Bednar been more stead than Mac.

And yet in meaningful innings he's spit the bit. I honestly wish he could harness it and who knows maybe he gets a shot in postseason and blows us away(I would love that to happen), just don't think it's realistic.

I've been calling him Beldar all season, lol (it's been working for the most part; y'all are welcome). I made a post the first weekend I think about how I was probably the only one, but I can't not think or say "Beldar" when I hear "Bednar". What can I say, I like that movie.
