Something to watch this offseason is because of COVID guy like Cerentola and MacLeoud should get a year back meaning that they'll still have leverage in the offseason.

They got the year back already- last year. So yes, technically, they are both sophomores. But MacLeod is older, and EC has no reason to come back. He's a pro guy, get on the mound every 5th day and hope he finds it. I think K james comes back next year, even though eligible this year.

I could see James doing something similar to Rooker, coming back after being drafted and really blowing up. He looks like he is really starting to figure it out now.

It's a whole lot easier to come back when you're just a second year soph. Rooker had been redshirted. Glad he game back for year 4. Made him a bunch of money.

Mac and Bacon are gone. James need to return and become the All-SEC guy at 3B. He will make himself alot of money by doing so. He's a big talent

MacLeoud has been good but hasn't really stood out to me and Cerentola has been hurt somewhat by not being able to pitch last summer IMO. That's where most college pitchers "find it". If they're outside of the top 100 college pitcher prospects that puts them on the border of top 10 rounds at best. Of course, I'll also add I don't put a lot of stock into D1Baseball's scouting info at all.

Seems fairly low risk for him to come back honestly because we're not pitching him enough for him to really worry about overuse or anything like that and if he fails again next year he's the same guy as he is now and hasn't really lost anything other than a year. Unless a team just falls in love with his potential and he is drafted in the top ten rounds.

Somebody is going to take EC in the top ten rounds. And we have to win games. He knows that. He won't be back.

MLB Top 100 has MacLeod at 40

Though the pandemic limited him to just four starts last spring, MacLeod tied a Mississippi State freshman record with a pair of double-digit strikeout outings, matching former first-round choices Eric DuBose and Paul Maholm. He fanned 45 percent of the hitters he faced in his debut, which was delayed a year because he redshirted in 2019 after coming down with pneumonia. He has one of the higher floors among college pitchers in the 2021 class and a profile similar to that of Reid Detmers, who went 10th overall to the Angels in 2020.

MacLeod's best pitch is a plus upper-70s curveball with good depth that plays well off his fastball. His heater has below-average velocity at 89-93 mph but is effective because he commands it, tunnels it well with his curve and it has high spin rates and riding life that keep it off barrels. He also has the makings of at least an average changeup in the low 80s with sink.

MacLeod uses his 6-foot-4 frame and high three-quarters arm slot to create downhill plane on his pitches and good extension in his delivery, which he repeats easily. His strength, durability and efficiency with locating his offerings all enhance his chances at making a big league rotation. He keeps hitters off balance with his ability to sequence his pitches and move them around the strike zone.
