Tornado watch until 4:00am for most of north MS. Currently several warnings crossing the River in NW part of the state. Over time the storms should form a QLCS, or squall line, and move across the state. This will diminish the tornado threat but very large hail and winds to 90mph will be possible in the strongest storms. Have ways to get warnings tonight. Already been several confirmed tornadoes this afternoon and evening.

Thanks. It is getting a tad dicey in Desoto County now.

Local meteorologist Ron Childers concurred saying he?s looking for it to be more of a straight line wind event. Expressed concern for I-55 traffic as squall lines cross it in about 10 to 25 minutes.

Never comforting to know Reed is in the vicinity. I dropped my Twitter account. Exactly where is he?

Thanks. That is SW of me. Local guys are thinking Oxford may be in for a major wind event before it is over, so he may track that way.

Just lost satellite. Tornado just reported, by weather radio, to be headed towards Senatobia and Como. Stay safe everyone.

Not looking impressive on radar tornado wise. Looks like it has bowed out.

It has calmed down considerably east of Hernando. Do you believe the worst is over for the Desoto County area tonight?

Tupelo area in the crosshairs now. Looks like a bumpy morning for 82 and north.

I did around 9:30 this morning. Ate a quick breakfast and then came to bed and crashed. Just thankful this happened when storms weren't too bad and I was by myself. I had my son with me earlier that afternoon. Also glad I happened when I was driving slowly since I lost power steering.
