Ben Howland basketball is pretty predictable in certain ways and in other ways it isn?t. He will never beat a top 25 team on the road and never beat a top 10 team at home. His teams will rebound well but will average a fairly large negative turnover margin and be bad at free throws. He will have no idea how to defend a press either. It becomes non predictable when the aforementioned is not involved. He could win on the road against a team 30 or lower and win at home against a team under 10-15 in the polls. It?s a pattern that will continue to happen while he is here. I am not taking a side on whether that is good or bad, just stating that is what to expect with him here.

We will never win a game that the other team soft press on us.
Simple as that. We either cannot coach how to break it, or simply cannot break it through the players we have. Either way, the season ended 9 games ago against aTm when they did this shit to us. 9 games and no plan on how to break it. 9 games and we still carry the ball up and have Tulu out there as the 2nd choice. No adjustment. Offense stalls and we turn the ball over about 25% of the time.

Guys, give Howland a break. He made the tournament that one time. Wait what's that? He has one tournament appearance in 6 years?? And he got bounced in the first round of said tournament by 12 seeded Liberty? Well, still 1 for 6 ain't that bad. At least we're competitive. What's that? We scored 80 points, LSU gave us 3 technical fouls, and we still got beat by 14 points on our home floor? Well at least there's next year, amirite?

We don't even have a recruiter. He recruited a few good classes a few years ago, but his last 2 have been average.

We beat Missouri pretty good didn?t we? And saying Howland is a recruiter is a stretch. He ain?t that great at that anymore. We need a change at the helm that?s for sure. Hopefully the Howland lovers can soon see what I?ve been preaching for years..he?s old, he?s washed up. I am pretty sure he might be a little off his rocker. He can?t make adjustments and he is doing the same ole crap he did with Fountain that he did with Woodard. Most coaches and anyone with any sense at all would leave a player who is hot in the game. Especially late in a game.

DJ isn't fast. He's a big physical guy but he's not fast. He needs to improve it and his bad habit of falling off his shot. Molinar and Smith are it. Smith can fly.

DJ may not be fast but in half court he can explode to the hole or blow by his guy when he sees the open. At 6-6, his ball handling gets a little loose.

fast is good. but I will take ball skills over speed. the value of a possession needs to be emphasized. I'll take a slower point guard who doesn't make cross court passes that the other team dunks. Or A pg that can shoot 75% from the free throw line. We are on record as a good offensive rebounding team--But you can't rebound a turn over. We rebound 30% of our misses. If we have 21 turnovers a game that is 7 rebounds we don't get.

to me the main problem Ben has is his inability to change defenses. Our man defense stunk--so why not a trap or some zone.. anything to disrupt the offense besides them bombing open 3s and driving by for layups.

That was optimistic of you, but you weren't far off. Just add a few more and you're right on it.
