All got Moderna. Sister had a light case. Everyone has been light but about half have had really painful mouth/tongue sores. Basically a really bad sinus infection with fever, headache, & tiredness. We all got together in a group online and discussed. We're convinced it's some type of vaccine side effect because we all started showing minor symptoms within a day of getting it, before it gets worse about a week later. Most but not all got the vaccine at the same location.
We are now at 22 of us in this group. Only those that live together have come in contact with one another.
I've been living like a damn hermit due to health issues. Would be almost impossible for me to contract Covid.

And there's no virus in the vaccine, so you can't catch it from the vaccine. So don't avoid the vaccine. Just know there could be side effects.

I hope it stays light and you are able to get your second dose. I finally got an appointment for February 3rd at Trustmark Park. I really stayed on the computer this past Monday morning and kept refreshing until finally the MSDH posted some appointments for Trustmark Park. If I hadn't been persistent , I would never have gotten an appointment. It showed over 150 available, when I selected mine and it had only one day available, and two different times to choose from. Right after I had completed the form, and got my approval there were no appointments available.

FYI if you are really interested in getting a shot call at the end of the day or show up at the vaccine site. There are always no shows and they will be looking for people to give the shot to since they have to use it. Every afternoon at 4 the nurse at the VA I go to cases the waiting rooms looking for someone to give a shot because of a No Show.

Call your local hospitals and health dept too. That's how I got mine. I called the hospital, and they assigned me a day/time.
So far mine is still light. Ready for the sinus shit to stop but I broke fever last night finally. Taking Zyrtec, zinc, vit c, vit d, antibiotic, aspirin with the wife who now has it as well (she's been vaccinated and missed her 2nd dose yesterday due to positive test). Hospital told her she might not be able to get 2nd dose now.

I'm glad to see so many are taking it. Everyone talks about how sick they are of this pandemic but everyone I know says they won't get the vaccine. Crazy. Most people I know don't take the flu vaccine either. My daughter thinks it's the devil and she's had the flu at least 3 times that I can remember. I had the flu when I was 21. Question. So if the one shot Flue vaccine in around 35-40% effective why can't we get most people to take a one shot covid vaccine? In other words the one shot is more effective than the flue

Because of all the fear mongering that has occurred on both sides of the issue. There has been so much misinformation on everything Covid people dint know what to believe and are scared. The anti vaccine crowd saying it changes your DNA and has a tracking chip in it. The anti Trump crowd says they don't trust anything developed during his admin. Then you got Fauci who changes his mind every five minutes on recommendations saying even after you had both shots you still need to wear a mask and social distance because we don't know how well it will work in the real world. People hear that and ask what's the point.

You missed my point. Wasn't comparing flue to covid. Was comparing effectiveness. If one flue shot with 35-40% effective is for the flue vaccine why isn't one covid shot that 55-65% effective. Not comparing flue to covid

Just read a congressman has tested positive for Covid about two weeks after his second shot.

What people need to understand is that after you get a vaccine, you can/will still technically get Covid again if you're exposed. If the vaccine is 75% "effective", it means that your symptoms will be reduced by 75%. So if you get a mild infection and the symptoms are reduced by 75%, you won't even notice. The question yet to be determined is how infectious are you at that time. Researchers think your viral load will be greatly reduced (in vaccinated people) but they don't know for dead sure. That's why they want people to still wear a mask even after they're vaccinated, until the whole country is vaccinated.

FYI, the term "efficacy" is a completely different term that only applies to people in the study. It doesn't necessarily mean much in the real world.

But you are comparing. The flu isn't as deadly or spread as easily. We're a hundred years since the introduction of it too. We've been able to beat it back. 33% for Covid is pretty useless other than possibly easy up the symptoms. But that's not going to touch the spread. Got to stop the spread to get control of it.

I'm sorry we just aren't on the same page. Not trying to argue just wanted to know why we can't get 70% vaccinated with one shot that 80% effective I guess was my question.

I?ve had both shots and had no issues. I got the Moderna through work with nothing more than a sore arm. I am in the medical field and have spoken with pretty much every co worker and others in the medical field and the most anyone has reported is arm pain, slight fatigue, and low grade fever for about 12 hours - which is common with any vaccine. No ones dong grew either, despite the rumors... which I am rather pissed about.

The second shot was worse than the first one. Fever and pretty bad aching joints overnight. I'm some better today but feel like I'm recovering from the flu. They released a bunch of appointments in Bexar county a couple of weeks ago and I was able to make appointments for 10 people. (neighbors, family, even X-wife) Two of them live in Comal county. The only info required was name, Birthday, and phone number.

If you're close sign up for www.universityhealthsystem.com alerts. They send out text and emails when they're opening up new appointments. They've been getting ~10,200 first doses each week.

You can do the same for Bexar County/San Antonio mass site.

My neighbor is an Cov ICU nurse on the Coast. One thing they are doing is once you are positive they start a new treatment on you ASAP to help stave off you getting worse. I don't know the name of the drug, it starts with an M, but Oschners and one of the hospitals on the Coast are doing it. The idea is to treat early before it gets into your chest. And it's really cutting down on ICU admittance. Of course if you are Stage 4 lung cancer ot a real bad heart condition not much can be done for you.

Good to hear. I never lost appetite when I had it, but I slept for damn near 2 weeks. I was just zapped for energy. 3 months out and I'm still trying to build up cardio capacity. When it gets in your lungs it's hard to shake.

Man I had the same shit 7 years ago. It took me 2 years to fully recover. I had to sleep standing up because everytime I laid down I thought i was drowning. Made me quit smoking.

Got my 1st shot 2/4/21. 2nd scheduled for 2/25/21. Qualified as I am a '55 model, have had triple bypass 11 years ago, teach middle school & am a fat_ _ _! Heck, I played TE and DE in HS at 140 lbs. I would be a 248 lb LB now if I weren't so old and slow. BTW, shot didn't hurt with just a little soreness in arm/shoulder. Dr son-in-law says swelled up arm, soreness, droopy, and low fever after 2nd shot, but ibuprofen and a good night's sleep and he was fine. Stay safe. Hail State!
