Non Basketball related - somebody used Chinese steel for some rather important Locking Pins.

Or a Facility guy put in some bolts and walked down the latter with some nuts in his pocket. Then he saw what happened, now realizes what those nuts are for.

Or someone used the wrong type of anchoring on a wall flange.

Scary, lucky no one was killed. No real indicator of talent though except they can hang on the rim. I used to could do that.

Maybe, it could be almost anything without more info on the incident. Video didn't look like a new gym so may have been something else? Had to be a pretty big oversight; that is not a failure that happens on basketball goals.
