I actually think Darnold can play in the NFL. The Jets are completely void of talent almost entirely across the board. Bringing in Lawrence will not fix that.

If they get the second pick, someone will pay a lot of move up and get a QB. They need to use that to improve their roster along with a few free agent acquisitions. And they need to go ahead and fire Gase.

Quarterbacks are a crap shoot not matter how good you think they are in college.

Building a winning culture matters. Not sure it matters in this case with a new coach next year, but winning matters. Teams that win games build confidence & usually win more games.

I think the Jets probably hurt the franchise by winning that game, but it's by no means a sure thing

The main thing the Jets need to do right now is evaluate how good or bad Darnold actually is. I would draft Lawrence over Darnold, but I'm not sure about Fields over Darnold. I've watched some Ohio State football this year &, while talented, Fields is absolutely not a sure thing. Not even close.

If I had the #2 pick & thought Darnold was pretty good, I'd trade that pick to a team wanting to draft Fields & load up on picks.

Take Sewell at 2. Evaluate Darnold this year with a good OL and new coach, and if you still suck go get Howell next year and you already have your line solidified with Becton and Sewell
