D is not as crisp. Offense has more flow. We’ll see how it plays out

Troy is basically packing the paint to negate State’s height advantage. The girls have a wide open three whenever they want it.

Final
Miss.State. 103
Troy 76

Rickea Jackson 30 pts
Sidney Cooks 26 pts
Aliyah Matharu 16 pts

JaMya Mingo-Young 9 assists, 2 turnovers
Myah Taylor 9 assist 0 turnovers

(Notes)
Miss.State State with 18..3 pointers
Troy outscored Miss. State by 4 points in the second half. Appears...Miss. State's bench as a whole still needs a good bit of work. Matharu made a few mistakes..but played well off the bench, especially offensively. My opinion, team still needs defensive improvement (more so than offensive)..but getting Xaria Wiggins back really helps put this team on another level.

Will the transfer that starts in Jan help with the defense?

Temple transfer Ashley Jones not expected eligible for this season....unless NCAA rules all transfers immediately eligible (including those not yet enrolled at new school, having previously transfered, ect.) or another reason, type waiver. Also, language of NCAA rulings big key. If Miss. State applied for her a waiver....wouldn't be surprised if they let her play...haven't been turning down many recently. Also, Miss. State could choose to save her eligibility until next seasion regardless (attempting to put her atleast a class behind Myah Taylor...eligibility). She's explosive offensively, defense appears ok...not stand out. Indicated that she's looking to improve her defense at Miss. State.

Knisha Godfrey is expected to be with the team soon, and eligible.

Is it just me, or did it seem like we couldn't play man to man defense without straight up fouling them on every possession?

Seemed like lazy feet to me, combined with terrible whistle happy refs.

We won big but didn't look as sharp as hoped. Looks like we have lost the D intensity that Vic brought. That is not going to win us tough ballgames when we ain't hitting 3s.

Sidney Cook impressed me last night. She can play. Hayes is a freshman and plays like it but can be a good player down the road. R.Jackson is an all american right now.

Some of it is the style Troy plays. We played them last year, and it was the same type of game. They scored 82 on us last year.
