That's a really tough job. Its probably been 12 years or so since they've been decent. Seems like they don't care about football at all.

From the outside and for some on the inside, it appears as if we do not either.

We just fired a coach after two seasons that went 2-0 against Ole Miss and went to a bowl game both years...

The Lovie Smith hire was always a weird one for me. Wouldn't call Illinois a good program by any means, but they've had successful seasons from time to time. They have both a Rose Bowl and a Sugar Bowl appearance in the last 20 years. Typically go to a bowl game every 3-4 years. The right hire there could do well there, they have the potential to be another version of what Indiana is right now.

1) we were willing to math Floridas offer to keep Dan, 2) we fired a coach after just 2 seasons where he made a bowl game both years. Why? because the product on the field was getting worse. 3) we shelled out 10M a year to get a proven P5 HC and competitive staff.

None of those acts are done by programs that don't care about football. Of course we care. Anyone that thinks differently is an idiot.
