I think it was just a simulation of background crowd noise - the buzz. Most places pipe in noise based on the play, but they just kept theirs constant. Sounded like they were using a Snooz right by the mic.

Bama is pretty good with piping in crowd noise, but they have experience doing it for years.

It was terrible. I hadn’t watched football all day and decided to turn on that game on my phone while I hopped in the shower. I legit thought something was wrong with the plumbing because of that noise.
