Today on OOB, Bo says Kylin Hill is our only offensive playmaker. Buy or sell?

M13 take: The offense performed just as well vs Ark (w/o 8) as vs UKs (w/8)

Sell

...and may not play this weekend.

If true, We will be alright. The offense performed just as well vs Arks 3-8 as UKs 3-8.

Sell

Buy/Sell. Maroonthirteen just butchered that buy/sell as badly as you have ever seen someone butcher a buy/sell.

Soft sell. I have no clue what the premise Maroonthirteen is asking that buy or sell. But there are at least several premises that you could buy or sell (Hill is the only playmaker? Hill won't play this weekend? We'll be alright without Hill?), and I guess that's less of a butchering than the people that do buy/sell and then ask an open ended question.

Kylin hasn't made plays the last two weeks. That OL and QB is why.
Payton is up there with Kylin. He's been good. But again, OL and QB is hurting us.
Shavers has been ok. But we're limited talent wise.

Soft sell as well. When Mitchell decides he wants to play, he highpoints the football as good as any receiver we've had in the last 10 years, however he hasn't really decided to play since LSU. I think Payton in space is a playmaker and has some breakaway speed. I also could say that Austin Williams is a playmaker when you need 6-7 yds on a 3rd down. The main problem with those two right now those is learning where the gaps in the zone are and being able to exploit them. And that comes with repetition in the offense, so not having a spring practice hurt us in that regard.

Just messing around with you.

I'd say sell also.

If you have WRs that can beat a man press, you have playmakers. We just don't have players that know how to attack a zone. If you take Bo's premise, Kylin is not a playmaker, because he didn't make anything happen against a zone last week against UK.

I don't think it's Kylin's (or our WRs) inability to makea play. It's that we just aren't in sync enough to attack a zone defense. We're not getting Kylin or WRs balls where/when they're in a position to make a play.

Nah, we've got playmakers, but they really haven't had much opportunity.

Payton, Heath, Tulu, & Marks can all make plays.

Once Tulu learns the offense & Knox gets here, we'll have the shifty guys in the slot that make the mesh deadly. Throw that in with all the WRs learning to play against zone and we'll figure it out.

Kylin is our best playmaker but I wouldn't say he's the only playmaker. And our QB and o-line issues have been so problematic that it wouldn't matter if we started four All-Americans at receiver. Fix the two big problems first, and then we can talk about whether or not our skill players are good enough.

This. One example out of many was Colston for the Saints. He wasn't running away from anyone in man or breaking ankles, but he had some of the best spatial awareness of any WR I've seen. Beating zone is more about sitting in the right spot at the right time vs athleticism and play making ability.

You can't get the ball to K when sits down in front of the defense. Neither can you get the ball to Zeke at Dallas when he sits down in front of the defense. Get the ball to them early in the swing.

Payton is a big time playmaker. I think several other WR can make plays too. The two freshmen RB have potential.

Dillon Johnson was given 3 or 4 4th down handoffs in the Arky game. And he converted each time. He's better than Kylin right now.

There really isn't much difference in 40 times between most receivers in P5 programs. There really isn't much difference between schemes in P5 programs either. The programs who have bad ass ballers at receiver make the difference being that speed and scheme are similar. When I was the secondary coach at Southwestern College in 2009, Darnay Scott from the Bengals and Cowboys NFL was the receiver coach. During service periods, I would observe Darnay teach receivers to move my defenders or knock the defender off the spot being contested. Darnay used to just run over defenders, to get the ball, in college and the NFL. This concept has been known by many NFL receivers but not all college and high school coaches feature this?
