I saw where sixpackspeak tweeted this, and I bet he is right. Are we really finally going to have a State game only for it to be interrupted during the second half? I'm anxious for the SCOTUS announcement, but I wish Trump could do it around 10am before football starts. Going to be some angry fans.

With all of the available ways to watch things surely there is a way to watch the game without interruption.

Put me in the boat of angry fans. Dude cannot wait 24 hours for this woman's body to be in the ground. Monday is ripe for this type of announcement to let people mourn a couple days and let America enjoy sports "without politics intervening" then move forward. But nope, gonna have something interrupted. Here's to hoping CBS isn't stupid about what they show.

I actually think he's doing the right thing to wait a week despite most thinking he should go ahead and do it. He's trying to be respectful. I just wish he'd do it before 11am on Saturday. I'm being selfish, but football is finally here and I don't want to be interrupted.

True. I'll be honest I'm rather shocked he hasn't named one already. I get being respectful but this announcement timing could piss off his base. Imagine he announces it at 8 pm Saturday and ABC cuts away from FSU-Miami. That would piss off a good portion of a state he needs. Just seems ill-planned to not do it Monday. Makes him look good for waiting. Has it coincide with the start of the week when they can just push it through. Doesn't piss off any sports fans. (Maybe baseball if there are playoff tiebreakers or whatever.) But this admin has never done the smart thing so what else is new.

I don't think our game will be interrupted. It will be a breaking news ticker tape down at the bottom from the local channel. The 24/7 news outlets will carry it live.

He's waiting a week. That's about all he can do. He probably should announce before the games start on Saturday. Or better yet, announce Monday morning. There's not really anything that's going to be done between Saturday and Monday. Just give McConnell the timing of the announcement so he can go ahead and start scheduling, then be announce Monday morning.

That's just more words to say what I said he should do lol. Monday is the right time for this type of announcement.

If we get our game interrupted for that shit I will be angry. Doing it in the middle of a football Saturday on the first weekend of SEC football is the definition of not knowing the room.

I hope we can find a link or the CBSsports channel will carry it during the interruption. If someone finds a link, please post it.

RBG, being Jewish, by tradition should have been buried within 24 hours. Even considering Jewish Holy days should have been LAST Monday.

This is the link to Watch ESPN. I haven't used it since last season but it's free. You have to be getting your internet through one on the services on their list, but there are boatloads of them. I have used Comcast in the past and presently use Xfinity.

There are things more important than football and this would be one of them. To act like Trump should order his announcement around a football game or he'll lose voters or you'll get mad is petty.

I mean this America. We have shown our priorities. Doing what is morally right and caring about the "right" things is something that we have shown doesn't really matter. Sports and making money definitely outweighs lives. So do you really think the average American gives a damn about a SCOTUS nominee? It's less than 50 days to the election. He'd be smart to not rock the casual voter boat. It's a fair criticism as there is no gain for him announcing Saturday / Sunday instead of first thing Monday. Only losses.

But without the idiocy of maintaining that he should be constrained by how long RBG's family decides to keep her above ground.

I mean it's a legit reason and showing that modicum of respect helps him. He's only hurting himself with this move.

we have been waiting on those justices since the creation of the court .... and the way the dems dragged the last nominee through the mud and TOOK THEIR TIME about it makes me think this announcement can wait as well .... and I'm a Trump voter at that ..... yeah - I'll be pissed if CBS cuts away

Woah, Woah, Woah. You can do the morally right thing while also making money. Those two things aren't mutually exclusive. Yes there are some bad actors out there but there are also a lot of really solid companies and corporations that do both of those things. They take care of their employees and shocking, I know, but they also make money.

You don't have to have one or the other. Both are very possible.

For example, there are several trucking companies that pay their truck drivers 60+K starting salary with full health benefits/401k etc. with the ability to make 6 figures if you stay on with them for a few years and yet there is a major major driver shortage.

I can point to several other industries/corps that do a great job of taking care of their employees, creating a safe enjoyable work environment etc.

And news flash, those same bad people, bad politicians and bad companies would be doing the same bad things under socialism, communism, capitalism, "democratic socialism" etc. The problem isn't what or how the government operates, it is people. I assure you Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Russia, China, Norway, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico etc. all have greedy A holes just like America that take advantage of whoever they can.

It isn't just an "America" problem.

The America problem was strictly in reference to the sports above lives part. That's not an exclusive American problem sure, but we are the world leader in sports above everything.

Are we? I mean, isn't soccer the worlds biggest, most watched sport. Have you lived in multiple other countries, I haven't so I wouldn't know? It seems like there are way way more in the stands fights between opposing fans etc. at soccer matches in other countries than there are in American sports. Just a couple years ago at a match there were several people shot at the game.

Just google Soccer fans stampedes or soccer fan brawls and see the list that pops up. It is way worse than what you see at any of our sporting events.

In the DR, Venezuela, Mexico etc. They have baseball academies that kids that are talented go to at a very young age and just focus specifically on baseball and learning English. I think most every culture/ country outside of a few put sports and athletes on a pedestal.

The announcement shouldn't be a big deal - it's going to be Amy Coney Barret - unless he springs a bit surprise.

What good company we keep. I mean damn. Anyways. We threw caution to the wind, cut testing funding, have our president having his cronies fudge numbers, still on a torrid case pace and said **** it. Give us sports. Sign liability waivers. Do whatever. **** the ever growing pile of dead bodies. Sports > Lives

All my point was is that the president is dumb for interfering with that. Especially with something his base loves and will be pissed if he interrupts. And he has no gain from doing it Saturday vs. Monday morning.

Any other arguments you guys want to have can be amongst yourselves. You're either looking for some shit to trip me up and feel superior about or making something up when you don't find it. If you wanna argue how America isn't the worst to disprove me saying it's the best then you can take it to my inbox. Just don't be like extendedcab and spew vile racist hate.

This. Announce her and hurry up and get her in. It's what we elected him to do. He hasn't disappointed his voters yet so I don't think he will this time either.

They've had enough time to mourn her. Time to put her remains in the ground.

There's also the matter of an audience. Trump probably chose 4 p.m. Eastern as being a time when "real" games are on for the first time this fall, and he knew there would be a much larger audience than there would be on a non-football Saturday afternoon. However, CBS will probably do nothing more than run the ticker since they don't like Trump, and the less exposure they give him, the better, unless they can spin it into something negative.

Which ever way they decide to do it, we'll live through it. Anyway, the news broke last night as to who the nominee will be so there's not really a surprise element any longer. Unless he's thrown that tidbit out there as a diversion and it's somebody else.

No breakaway - just a crawler. Might be a replay of the announcement at halftime, but I don't think anybody is surprised.
