Rewatch the USC game and you'll see 80% of Dak's throws are quick East/West passes to the WR at the line of scrimmage. Come on Dan! Not even you and Florida did that with Percy Harvin. Mullen's play-calling has been atrocious. Here's a thought. Throw the ball forward not laterally CDM.

That was to negate USC's aggressiveness on their DL. But I agree, we need to throw it downfield more.

We're just doing vanilla passing right now. We are saving our real passing for the SEC west teams coming up.

I don't ever remember truly having a vertical passing game, but whatever. The most vertical we've been in Dan's tenure is a Chad Bumphis deep post.

Exactly!! You can't win consistently without throwing it deep. Why is this such a mystery to our staff?

Would love to see a few deep balls to Wilson each game. Seems like i remember that working one time.

I agree. I don't think DAK can accurately throw the ball more than 15 yards. There is not other good explanation for it.

We haven't had a vertical passing game since Olanda Truitt and Willie Harris.

We wadnt lighting up scoreboards with Russell in there. If vertical means taking 15 yard sacks often then i guess we had one.

Glad Dak doesn't take 15 yard sacks. He likes the 18 yard variety to defensive powerhouses like Kentucky.

That was my biggest issue with TR. He rarely went deep. I don't know if he was afraid to throw a man open or if he were coached to stay away from deep routes. Either way, we are hurting ourselves by not forcing defenses to respect the potential. Maybe we don't have a guy that can get open deep? My response: Year 5.

He also likes to scamper for 28 yd tds against decent teams like LSU when the pocket breaks down. It was a sure damn sack if the pocket ever broke down with Russell.
