My random question of the day is how did he end up at Georgia Tech? I assume they were still running the flex bone when he was there so it seems like an odd fit to me. Unless he wasn't rated very high out of high school and that was his only offer

Just guessing but I think MegaTron was a late developer. Maybe he concentrated on basketball in HS or he kept growing?

That's the best explanation I can come up with. I couldn't find him on Scout, but I only had a minute or two to search, so I decided to let someone on here enlighten me

If Bear Wilson gets work done in the weight room we might have a mini Mega. I've been very impressed with DeRunnya Wilson so far.

Same reason Demaryius Thomas and Stephen Hill went to GT. Good players go to other schools sometimes. See Brown, DeAndre.

When he was recruited to GTech, they were not an option team.

Thanks for the link, Big4. Clearly not a late bloomer! *****, #3 WR nationally.

I looked at that exact page. I guess I looked over the 5 star part.

When he was recruited to GTech, they were not an option team.

That makes sense. I couldn't imagine him going there knowing they're running the flexbone

CJ was an absolute beast coming out of HS. Basically, he's from Georgia and Chan Gailey was a very good recruiter, far better than Paul Johnson. They got some very good players during his time there and took several that UGA thought were theirs.

Recruited by and played for Chan Gailey who went back to the NFL after GA Tech fired him

He wanted to be an engineer. Seriously.

But from a football point of view it was totally ridiculous that he went there instead of UGA. They would have won at least one title at UGA had he gone there.

Reggie Ball was awful as a qb while Calvin was there. Calvin showed out in spite of his qb is what i remember about him in college.

So you consider it 'totally ridiculous' when any prospect comes to State when they have the chance to go to a school better than us in football?

Between UGA and Tech yeah it was totally ridiculous. Thus the confusion posed by the original post.

So then yes, you consider it ridiculous when a player chooses State over, say, Alabama, or LSU, or Florida.

One awesome thing about Calvin Johnson is he probably could've played Major League Baseball if he was committed to it. Looks like Matt Kemp
