View Full Version : How easy is the 3-3-5 defense to learn?

It sounds like a lot of our players played something similar in high school.
Also- which is easier for a defensive lineman? Attacking gaps out of a three man front or attacking another blocker out of a four man front?
As a Joe Lee Dunn fan I'm honestly just as excited about the defense as I am the Air Raid!

Haven't played since high school and I'm not a coach.
I don't think it's whether or not it's "easier" for a player to attack a gap or a man (in fact you can do either from either a head-up or a shaded position). I think the better question is how that player's assignment fits in the overall scheme of the defense and what you're trying to do--and that is well above my pay grade.

See ball, go get ball, sounds simple enough.

press coverage and attack the ball. will be big losses by offense and big gains by the offense.

If JLD can teach it to a bunch of JUCO guys every year it ain't that hard.

This defense calls for a certain amount of recklessness in getting to the qb. That's what I like about it.
