I did not put this in the Covid thread because I think this deserves its own. The CDC says as of today that it is not necessary to get tested just because you?ve been in close contact to someone with Covid as long as you don?t have symptoms. Does this also negate the need to quarantine? If so, this changes everything related to falls sports and school. I haven?t been able to find any information specifically pertaining to quarantine.

It takes 5-7 days from exposure to test positive. So testing before then is pointless unless you're sick.

They have also dropped the mandatory 14 day quarantine after returning from overseas or out of state. I believe it's still recommended but no longer mandatory.

I'm assuming the fact that no change of the quarantine policy was stated would mean that policy stays in place.

If the quarantine stays in place, nothing really changes then. I?ve heard and seen multiple sports pundits mention it as a good thing for sports.

This is 100% a reaction to teacher shortages that many school districts are starting to face.

False. It's about unnecessary over testing and bad tests. The local school districts and states are setting the requirements for schools and have never matched CDC requirements m.

Testing numbers are already down 30-40% but positive test are up about 10% on a % basis. Its 100% to do with teachers and the strain its putting on districts.

Which districts have a teacher shortage?

Positive tests are up because school are using inaccurate quick tests. Also, the CDC is close to admitting asymtomatic people can't spread it. It's not about teachers. Sorry...
And yes, I know...it'll be after the election.

This should be treated like the flu at school but 6 months of freak out by media and everyone has made people go mad. I know schools where if a kid has just one symptom the whole pod is sent home to quarantine. People have lost there mind.

That seems like a pretty good adjustment based on the newer timeline information lately.

MSU is not going by the CDC guidelines. They are sticking with the MS Dept. of Health....14 days.

Still testing asymptomatic persons?
