According to the CL, Williams opted out because of the virus. I'm not a subscriber, so I couldn't read the article.

I understand players can 'opt' out BUT I thought they had to stay in school to maintain their scholarship!

What am I missing?

There was a thread looming this possibility a few weeks back, yes?

Well within his rights to do so as are all college athletes. He will have another year of eligibility.

He can stay at home and take online classes.

Who said he's staying at home? Unless he left lately, he's not. And ... nevermind. He's not playing.

Y’all tell me if you think I’m wrong, but...

I could see a situation where Leach let’s him back (because he has to), but Tyler never regains that starting role.

Was replying to a previous poster asking if he had to stay on the team to keep his scholarship.

I'm glad he's staying in school at least.
