Not shocked because other P5 conferences have made this decision. But this is the first step. If you cancel until August 31, that means other cancellations are on the table. Interesting to see how this plays out.

If things are so bad they need to postpone other sports why is not too bad for football? I banking there will be football in some form or another. They will do everything they can to have a season.

Because unless football players start dropping like flies for most big schools it's play or go bankrupt. What we owe is too much for us to pay without the football cash.

I totally agree.

Hit the nail on the head. People need to be prepared that without football we won't have much of a non conference baseball schedule. I imagine all SEC teams would be fine for a year, but I don't know about other P5 conferences and especially the G5 conferences.

Does that include practice because...uhhhh...we don't have a game scheduled until Sept. 5th anyway....

If we do not have football in the state of Mississippi this fall there will be business in Oxford and Starkville that will go out of business. They've lost the baseball business from the spring and losing the fall football business will be the death knell. Forget spring football, it will be too late.

Yeah everything football related is still operating like normal. All the other sports are the ones affected by this today.

Without football we better be prepared to not have baseball, ...again...ever.

A sad truth right here; the economy can't handle any more suppression and shutdowns. It would be devastating.

SEC baseball might survive but I am 100% in agreement that many schools will lose baseball and many other sports. Even if the G5 play football they will still not survive if they can't get the pay checks from Alabama and other big schools.

So if we do play and the fear is always hanging over us like a cloud that the season could end at any time then it would be in the leagues best interest to have certain blue blood schools with the best record as possible to ensure they have the high rankings and qualify for NY6 bowls and the playoffs just in case those games are played. So we thought the Refs were all in for bama before. We're in for never before seen home cooking refs for the SEC elites now.
