Reports are that Sankey thought the P5 conferences were going to confab in August and make a joint decision.

He thought wrong. Now the word on the street is SEC will follow the Big10 and have conference games only probably starting in October.

He should be pissed.

The Big 10 got egotistical & decided to be the Czar of College football. What they did wasn't right

If I were any G5 school on the BIG11 schedule, I would be making my claims for buyouts now. They're going to need that money sooner rather than later. The G5 schools with a few P5 buy games might could salvage their athletic departments if they just shut down everything for a year and collected the penalties for the P5 schools pulling out. P5 schools will claim force majeure, but I think G5 will have a good argument that the P5 schools can't just breach the contracts with the G5 schools b/c they'd rather play conference teams. THey might would have had to cancel some games, but choosing to do so in July and only canceling OOC games means it wasn't out of their control. THey chose to cancel OOC games b/c it was beneficial to them, which doesn't fall under traditional force majeure.

Yep, Chris and his co-host brought that up too. The excuse of "Well, we can't play you but we can play teams in our conference" doesn't hold a lot of legal weight on the Big10's side.

The proper response Is to say that the SEC is implementing the 3rd baseball coach and 17 scholarships- due to Coronavirus

(1) 50 kids with just 2 coaches is too much. Riskier for communication and oversight

(2) mass unemployment, we have kids that could need the additional support

Just do it

Ha, Ha, Ha. Don't feel good does it Sankey to have one stuck in you does it. Sankey stuck one in MSU and Olemiss on flag penalty. Ole Stankey.

3,2,1...?. come on you Sankey defenders and flame away. Sankey insulted MSU and blindsided us with BS flag stuff.

Yeah I’m still not sure how playing only conference games makes a difference. Covid only spreads between OOC teams?

Unless that OOC is Notre Dame, they are magically safe

GT won’t take a bus day trip to Athens Georgia but can go to Boston (one of the most affected cities) or Miami (also a top-10 death count city) or fly to Chicago (#2) to play Notre Dame

Seems the more logical and defensible position is to limit football to drivable distances. Conferences used to be regional but now semi continental.

Another LOL is the Big 10 with Northern Jersey, DC, Detroit suburbs, Minneapolis, SE Wisconsin, and Chicago.

I imagine that this was done because the Big 10 knows that the SEC is for playing an entire football season. It's basically trying to beat the SEC to the punch to get what they want.

To be honest I was WAY more pissed at Sankey about the Egg Bowl fight a couple of years ago and trying to make MSU play nice like that was our fault to start with when he let his incompetent officials let the 2017 Egg Bowl get completely out of hand with dirty play by Ole Miss- which I believe fueled what happened in 2018. Which really wasn't that bad to start with when you consider that Ole Miss planted their flag at our 50 the year before and our response was to go back to work and kick their ass in 2018. Ole Miss had an AD whine about it and almost get into a fight with Moorhead.

I want so bad for the SEC to tell the NCAA screw you- baseball is important to us and we are investing in it. We will give 25 scholarships and have our own championship if necessary.

Easy, smaller circles. They are assuming that players remain in the bubble while in hotel with their team which is likely. Travel also sticks to ground not air.

There are risks is getting up in the morning and driving to work. We come to within 6 ft of death every car we meet on highway. What is reasonable risk is what many struggle with and some just use risk and safety as a political mind game.

I think it's akin to jettisoning dead weight if the plane is running out of fuel. They want to be able to control their schedule, their testing protocols, stop the season if they want, delay it if they want, etc. For example, if they feel the need to reschedule the Ohio State Michigan game for a few weeks they have the flexibility to do it without having to worry about that Ohio State Vs Western Michigan game already scheduled for that day.

Ultimately they know they have to get the meat if their schedule in if at all possible, so I think they're just clearing the path they feel gives them the best chance to do it. I think they could have waited a couple more weeks to make that call and it would have been nice if the P5 could have come to a consensus, but I'm sure they had their reasons for the timing.

That makes more sense than to reduce the spread of Covid. Regardless of location and opponent one team will have to travel and some of these conferences are so spread out there is no way to not have to fly even if just playing conference games. It would be nice to free up 4 weeks within the season to schedule "make-up" games if a game needs to be rescheduled.
