One of the greatest movie composers to ever live. If you don't recognize the name, you'll definitely recognize the music...

If you haven't heard his compositions that he reworked in collaboration with Yo Yo Ma you are missing out. You can YouTube Ennio Morricone Yo Yo Ma and it will pull all of those works up.
Highly recommend giving them a listen.

An incredible talent!! His music just made those Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns.

Once Upon a Time in the West is one of my all time favorite movies. Absolutely beautiful music!! Greatest opening scene ever (my opinion of course).

It's sad to see the last of the great actors, directors, composers, etc. dying off. Movies aren't what they used to be, except for rare occasions.

I'm in my 20's and still recognize him as incredible. His non-cinema work is great too (look up "the mission"). Apparently he thought of himself as beneath all the composers who stated "pure" and didn't do cinema scores, which I find really sad t hat he thought that about his own genius work

Agree, but The Mission is definitely cinema...one of Roland Joffe's best films (maybe a close second to The Killing Fields, though), and definitely one of DeNiro's most underrated roles.

Metallica takes the stage to "Ecstasy of Gold" and it is an intro to one of their songs.

Pure genius! Remember going to the movie as a kid to see "The Good, Bad and the Ugly" and even then loved the theme. "Once Upon a Time in the West" was also a brilliant composition. RIP Ennio, you talent will never be duplicated.
