Forgot how electric that place was with MSU fans that night.

We played for 3 national championships last decade and lost all of them.

This shit ain't for the faint of heart

So.... Why did State lose?

2nd game was never close.

They were just playing better at the time

They were also better set up to win in that stadium.

I also remember we helped them out a LOT with our approach at the plate. We were impatient and everyone kept trying to do too much. We swung at high FB after high FB and gave them quick flyouts. I think the whole team was playing tight

UCLA was built to play small ball and we were a power team. Take those two teams today with the current ball and TD Ameritrade setup and we win.

I give UCLA credit they played small ball well and were setup perfectly for the CWS as structured in 2013.

^^^^^This^^^^ UCLA was built for Omaha...plus we were out of pitching....the women?s game against Notre Dame was stolen from us..

This. I remember us having a bunch of flyouts caught on the track, that would've been dingers the past few years.

I didn't say they weren't talented. Just said we were way more talented

It's not really debatable that MSU was BY FAR the more talented team in this matchup.

However, what is debatable is if UCLA was the more skilled team. Southern California baseball players are a lot like Mid-West college basketball players. Their baseball IQ is higher & instincts & skill level more advanced.

There's no question on talent though

We were more talented. We've had so many players off of that team make it to the show. Not to mention, players like Brett Pirtle and Alex Detz who didn't make it to MLB, but were outstanding college players.

We just couldn?t hit them, plain and simple. Scored one run in two games and it was on a bases loaded walk.

Our approach at the plate was horseshit because the moment got too big.

I barely remember watching this in between visits to my dad in his final trip to ICU.

They had already shut down one or two high-scoring teams in the CWS. Better hitting teams than State.
