View Full Version : I have a real issue with Sankey's statement

He has defamed MSU.

He said " Our students deserve an opportunity to learn and compete in environments that are inclusive and welcoming to all" What an insult.

First he has no students, MSU does as do other institutions of higher learning. SEC is a sports league, that is it.

Second, MSU is inclusive and welcoming to all. All kinds of different people, beliefs, etc are at MSU and welcomed. The flag that is not MSU has nothing to do with how well MSU rolls out the welcome to anyone who joins Bulldog nation.

I'm calling on Sankey to issue a restatement if he is a man!!

Goodness, some of you look dumber everyday.

Sankey & Cohen got a heads up that the NCAA was going to issue their ruling today & decided to get ahead of it.

I'm sure he will listen as well as the Governor and Lt. Governor do.

Yeah, I accidentally left that part out. I thought it was obvious what I meant though. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

What sec schools have the highest percentage of black students? Genuinely interested bc I figure we're up there near the top.

What I don't understand is why so many Mississippians want to look backwards more than they want to look forwards.

Don't we all want Mississippi to prosper, grown in population, & to see the local economy grow? Don't we all want to see that?

So then, tell me, what side of history here do you think helps us get there?

What side of history here helps Mississippi move on & become a great state?

What side of history here helps young black kids grow up with more state pride & want to stay in-state to play college football? (I realize this is low hanging fruit, but that's the point. Changing the flag will positively touch everything in the state)

What side of history here helps Mississippi's two SEC universities have a greater national influence in all things?

I empathize with those in which the Civil War is part of their family's heritage & I also realize that we don't need to make a habit of giving into leftist pressure, but this isn't leftist pressure. This is about doing the right thing.

It's real simple. All you have to do is ask yourself a very simple question:

What is best for the future of Mississippi?

Then this statement is garbage...

" Our students deserve an opportunity to learn and compete in environments that are inclusive and welcoming to all"

...

FWIW, we absolutely should change our flag, but sankey should at least check things like % of black students before painting our state as not welcoming to black students

I wouldn't get bogged down on that.

Sankey knew the NCAA ruling was coming today & simply got out in front of it. Whether or not that statement is poor or not, doesn't change what's right & wrong in this situation

I can guarantee you Sankey knows we have the highest % of black students in the FBS. Remember he has the personal connection to MSU through his daughter, and even if he didn't, that's a pretty basic piece of knowledge for someone in his job.

I could give 2 ****s about any flag EXCEPT the USA flag. No piece of fabric flying above a building ever prevented me from an education, a job, getting married, having kids, etc. People that whine and cry about shit like this are ****ing pussies....plain and simple. Most likely the ?timeout? crowd bc their parents were too soft mentally to whip that ass!

Sankey & Cohen got a heads up that the NCAA was going to issue their ruling today & decided to get ahead of it.

Gun all you got is a mob mentality. You got no substance so you always reduce to insults. I could easily go there with you as you deserve it but I will not. Back to the issue.

My post is irrelevant that NCAA went first. Sankey is supposed to represent and pull for all members of SEC. He threw MSU and Olemiss under the bus for political gain. Cohen even at least said it wasn't fair to punish students for something they can't control. Sankey should have been making that argument to NCAA. Instead he sacrificed us again for his own gain. You think he does that to Alabama and Auburn? Think not.

They are abusing their power. MSU and Olemiss can't even get anything done due to schedule of timing for doing legal moves before this season. If they wanted to be fair they would give state till next year to get it done. But we don't live in a law and order country anymore. Guilty until proven innocent. Do what I saw or we'l punish you without a trial.

IMHO, legal action could be taken against SEC and NCAA for discrimination. Again what does MSU and Olemiss have any control over this. What they control they have done which is not have flag on campus.

That was my point on original post. He slandered our school like we are not inclusive which is a bold face lie. Today perception is all there is and he just kicked us where it hurts on another lie.

You have no idea what is right and wrong in this situation which is the problem going on everywhere. We ain't talking about the flag either. I've said everytime, get rid of it. Most people don't even know what it looks like. I live in another state for 24 years, I have no idea what our state flag looks like. Who cares.

Two reasons we have our current flag. By nature, Mississippians really hate being told what to do. Because of that they voted to keep the design as a major middle finger to everyone else. The design voted on in 2001 was awful. The Stennis flag is worse.

The flag will eventually change, but it wont be by people trying to force it by bayonet diplomacy.

I dont recall the NCAA winning many lawsuits. They wont win this one either. I'd sue their ass into the stone ages. They have no say in what a group of citizens decide.

Georgia has Confederate symbols in their flag. Alabama has the cross in theirs as does Florida. Arkansas has an inverted cross. It goes on and on and it never ends.

LSU nickname is the Fighting Tigers from a civil war division. Ole Miss and Rebels are from the civil war. Where does it end. Where does everyone get enough of cleansing the history of this country. Who decides?

I would lawyer up and crush the NCAA and do everyone a service by destroying them as a sports body.

The flag will change, but it wont be at gunpoint

They pretty much tried that strategy in 1861. Worked wonders...

Just do away with the flag for a year, why do we need a state flag anyway. In a year do some surveying with some examples of several designs and put the most popular 2 or 3 to a vote and be done with it.

We should absolutely sue. How can LSU get a pass for what they did but we get publicly defamed bc of flag that doesnt even fly on campus? I don?t think it?s even over the veterans building near the baseball stadium

So many snowflakes in today's society. Times are changing but I'm not so sure it's for the better! I'm thankful for the "era" I grew up in, respect is now lost and greed and hate is the new norm! I hate the thought what my kids and grandkids will have to go thru. No way do I think burning, destroying and changing flags or statues will change this country to be a better place to live! Way more hate in our society today and I'm talking about all races!

Stay safe, I'm afraid we haven't seen the worse of times yet, just saying!

Those saying sue the SEC or the NCAA do realize they are voluntary organizations and we can quit any time. A judge would look at it and say "Don't like their rule, then quit."

We haven’t. The farther we delve into socialism, the worse it is going to get. That’s all this stuff is anyway. This isn’t about race relations. This is about a Marxist insurrection.

The difference in the confederate flag & the Louisiana Tigers, Missouri Tigers, Georgia Flag, etc is that the confederate flag has been adopted by hate groups & the others have not.

Is that fair? Doesn't really matter.

Let say in 1930, a peaceful country in the South Pacific had a flag with a swastika on it & they never participated in WW2. Would that flag still be acceptable in 1950 even though that country did nothing wrong?

Perhaps the SWJs will attack Georgia's flag in time, but I think that flag was decided on as the perfect balance between being non offensive while also honoring the state's heritage.

Perhaps Mississippi can find the same balance.

So, the flag was adopted by a hate group at one time, and the decision to change the flag is in response to the hate group BLM.
