(1) Furman player- they just ended baseball to balance the budget. Virus consequence

(2) 6-2 225 lb Freshman that won the Friday night role, RHP

(3) Originally from Houston, Texas - 177th ranked player of his HS class

We didn?t really need pitching, so this dude must be THAT good.

I'm of the opinion that you can NEVER have too much pitching after watching us struggle through Mangum's sophomore year (and I understand we were besieged by injuries, which forced Jake to have to take the mound).

Love the Simmons transfer... good get for the good guys.

I would guess that "we didn't really need pitching" has never been said by a college baseball coach, especially one likely to lose a guy early in the upcoming draft.

I watched some video on him.

He's OK. Needs to get stronger and improve his breaking ball. The fast ball has some life but velocity needs to tick up.

Looks to have a Sunday starter type ceiling for us with long relief being the most likely outcome.

Is he getting any scholarship money?

Hope this doesn’t mean we are losing a pitcher to the draft that we weren’t really expecting to.

Had a 2.91 ERA as a freshman before the season ended. I think this is a big pick up.

He'll get bigger and stronger after a year in our s/c program. I think Foxhall will be able to do something with him.

Will he be classified as a freshman?

I don't think any coach has ever said it lol. My son went on a visit back in December and I was talking to the head coach about this very thing and he said "No coach has ever said if only we would've had a couple more outfielders".

Don't think you can ever have to many arms.

My perspective is on Right Hand hitting next year. We are very left heavy with the bats. Outside of Kamren Janes and Switch Rowdey, we have Cumbest, Leggett, Logan Tanner, and Freshmen MIFs. We are not exactly replacing Westy and Foscue as proven threats, unless someone steps up, Tanner was good in the short season.

By the way, I’m happy with the transfer, I started the thread

We're going to be counting on some freshmen to play immediately and provide some power.
