So every Friday, Pink Floyd is releasing a full-length concert video on YouTube for 24 hours. (It's part of some YouTube Film Festival that's going on while people are stuck at home.)

Last week was the Pulse concert film (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hokGXqEsCXk) from the mid-90s and next week is an awesome public television performance that they did in San Francisco in 1970.

Tonight, though, is the real deal. My favorite concert film ever: Live at Pompeii. Looks like it's just the concert footage instead of the full film, which has around 30-minutes' worth of documentary footage filmed during the recording of Dark Side of the Moon. But whatever. The music, which the band plays in the empty ruins of an amphitheater in Pompeii, is amazing.

If you're looking for something to occupy an hour this evening, you could do far worse than spending it with the Floyd in their prime:

Well damn, the Pompeii film was just a 24-hour deal. Oh well. On to this week's selection, a great live performance for a public television station in 1970:

This week the Floyd didn't post another concert video, but instead David Gilmour posted his full 2016 solo concert at Pompeii. Much of his solo stuff isn't my bag, unfortunately. Oh well. Dude can still belt out a hell of a version of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (which I've conveniently teed up for you below).

The other Floyd cuts in the concert, such as "One of These Days," "Fat Old Sun," and "Wish You Were Here," are similarly well done.
