If you’ve got $150 to spend on a combo it’s tough to beat some of those Lews combos at academy. I’m not throwing much Lews right now but I’ve had good experiences with their stuff.

Would like to try and get both around that price.

That’s the Lews Hack Attack combo for $119 regularly $159 at academy right now. It’s a Lews speed spool reel on the Hack Attack rod. Never thrown either but I have 2 Lews Super Duties and like both. The reel should be fine. The rod is 30 ton graphite with winn grips. That should be a fine rod. I’m a big fan of the 30 ton graphite vs cheaper 24 ton. Lighter and more sensitive.

Lews makes some pretty good reels. Also the Johnny Morris combos at BPS aren’t bad. I bought one of his rods to test last year, and it’s actually made a pretty good spinnerbait rod.
