Or if it's totally unrelated, but this virus has a lot of people in their mid 40's to 50's really worried about their parents.

Just a random thought I had since this seemed to come out of nowhere and happen really quickly. I don't know what happened with Texas's coach if they were on the hot seat before last season, but they weren't having bad results which makes me think they knew they had Vic. Makes me a tad curious if they reached our of if Vic put out some feelers b/c he was worried about his family. Or maybe he just wasn't as happy here as he seemed. Or maybe it was just a perfect storm of events and we got the short end.

Really weird time to fire and hire a coach. Poor taste with Texas if you ask me. Maybe this was in the works for months and this is the time the NCAAT would be over and those things would happen. Still odd to me the timing with everything going on.

They didn't fire her. They didn't renew her contract.

Amazing to me they let her contract get to expiration without it killing their recruiting. Who signs for a coach when their administration won't even pretend they are planning on keeping him/her for four years.

I doubt it had anything to do with it, but it may have made money seem a little more important. When you feel like you have a decade in front of you, maybe an extra 10% of pay might not seem like a huge deal when you're already making great money and are comfortable. When you start thinking it could go away at any minute and start thinking about setting your kids up, maybe that extra 10% looms a lot larger.

I heard we matched the Texas offer, so it shouldn't have been about money.

Yep we matched money and cost of living is certainly less in S'ville than Austin - not sure how to adjust that for reduced state income tax though. But this wasn't a monetary decision I'm pretty confident.
