An Ole Miss site just released their 10 highest paid NFL players & I was curious to compare their top 10 to MSU's for the 2020 season.

The results are well..... rather staggering & this doesn't even include Simmons & Sweat.

They should have done the comparison while they were still in college.

Brandon Bolden has had a great career for a journeyman RB.

Huge difference.

Pick 26: 4.46 million
Pick 37: 1.90 million
Pick 51: 1.41 million
Pick 64: 1.46 million

This didn't seem right to me, so I looked up abram. They have a different number

ETA... this doesn't change the jist of this though. The big money guys are on our side

Of course you did....

Depends on if you average his signing bonus as part of the annual earnings. Up to you. NFL contacts are difficult, so there is certainly some wiggle room here.

Either way, the picture from 30K feet doesn't change. A lot to a little

I just googled what each player was making. Sportrac is too tough to figure out with the NFL's rules.

Yeah. that's clear.

Just try not to be the world's biggest ass hole when doing so.

I'd need an NFL capoligist to get these numbers perfect & even then they'd be debatable.

Here's the Ole Miss article that got me thinking

Absolutely insane that a 3 star tight end is making more than their entire top 10 combined.

In their defense, this year is cherry picked because Eli came off the books

Contact total/guaranteed money would be a good way to compare. No matter what way you use though, our players are killing theirs. Maybe those guys will write some checks to the AD

Yeah, I could've done it that way, but you're right, it would only make a marginal difference & maybe actually give MSU players more money.

I'm sure they will give, but they should never be judged on whether they do or how much they give.

The owe MSU nothing IMO

I judge MSU players by what they give on the field at MSU, not by how much they give back afterwards.

I actually agree... just like Miss HS recruits owe us nothing either.

Agree they don't owe MSU anything. You just wish they had enough pride in their home state to not be a sell out.

I feel differently about HS recruits & players like Willie Gay than I do about guys that give it all on the field & then make money in pro ball.

I'd like for this thread to not get into that discussion. That's another thread for after A&M purchases a Mississippi kid again in 2021

cruitin material right there .... put it on a SWAG post card like Collins used to do. Looks like most of ours are defensive players and most of theirs are offensive ..... our lone offensive player makes more than their entire list

I barely remember Bobby Massie playing for them. Looking him up I see his two full years were 2010 and 2011, two very forgettable years for OM (and ending up with zero wins for those two seasons). All I really remember about him is some other SEC school accusing OM of buying him as a recruit.

I guess this thread reinforces that if you are a recruit you can either take Ole Miss's money and get paid the same as a gas station attendant or you can go to MSU and become a NFL star making millions.

Choice is yours recruits! Backpacks aren't forever.

That's true, and is important in the interest of transparency. I believe I read that he's been paid more in his career than any other NFL player - something over $250M.

Who is Bobbie Massie coming in at $7.7MM?
Never heard of him...?
