This board is in desperate need of sports discussion, so I figured I'd share this for those who hadn't seen it. Brian Hadad is doing a bracket containing MSU legends across all sports, and there are some really interesting match-ups.

Here is the entire bracket if you wish to view it:

Here are all the match-ups currently being voted on:
1241812846117294091

1241813696608972801
1241815186358624258

I'll try to keep an updated list of the current match-ups as they come so you guys can see it here.

What a great idea and diversion. What is the criteria for the winner? The 12/5 upset alert but Damp got that Final Four going. Both were bad to the bone.

Good stuff. Dak will win easily, but the rest will be interesting.

Oh no doubt. Palmeiro or Howell might get close, but this is Dak's to lose

Hunter Renfroe will end up winning because he's currently in the big league, but JJ Johnson was sure fun to watch.

An Allen Hall region? WTF, rename that region Suttle Hall. if doing a bracket of worst buildings on campus, then Allen would certainly have its on regional.

Those number #1 seeds are very good.

Dak vs Mangum is the final, I think

But Dak lost two egg bowls. Jake owned OM and went to 4 super regionals and two Omahas

I understand the Jake love. He was a great one. But, he's not even in the top 2 best baseball players so he shouldn't win this.

Yep. He'll make it to the finals though because he played last year. And our fanbase is sympathetic towards baseball players.

Has anybody gotten clarification on the criteria for "greatest?" I've asked but no response. If it is a synonym for best, I agree that Jake is not one of the best two players all time.

JJ was one bad dude in the backfield. He could truck some folks. That was Jackie ball at its finest.

Rhodes vs Hull Boy that is a tough one. Younger guys may not realize how great Kent Hull was. One of the greatest centers of all time. Played golf at a celebrity tourney with Andre Reid who played with Hull. He said Hull may have been the best lineman to ever play.

Love the way Rhodes played. Man I'll take another one like him.

I haven't. But I do know who wasn't the greatest baseball player to ever play here. And please don't take that to mean I am not thankful for his career and his accomplishments. I wish he were still playing.

Won't argue w that. Just that he's not the best

Yea I agree. I think you could argue he was maybe the most important to the program though. 4 straight supers (and back to back Omaha trips) under 4 different coaches, sometimes in half a stadium, where he was the one constant each of the four years and held it together during a tumultuous time.

That's why I was wondering if greatest meant only "best," or if other attributes factor into the term "greatest."

That's not the reason he will make it to the finals (if he actually does). Small played last year and he won't make it to the finals.

The reason Jake may make it to the finals is because he was seen as the glue to our program during arguably the most tumultuous time in our program's history and we still went to four straight supers and two cws during that time.

Jake > Small though

Won't argue your second point. I love Jake.
