Being reported that 6-4 Rutgers freshman center/forward, Maori Davenport (ESPN #14 overall class 2019, #2 center) has placed her name in the transfer portal. Miss. State was one of her finalist before she signed with Rutgers. At the time, quite a few felt good that she was likely to ultimately sign with Miss. State. Also, she had previously come on a visit to Miss. State along with Rickea Jackson and Aliyah Matharu... several other top recruits.

Again, Miss. State was heavily in the mix for Davenport, appeared to quite a few that she was leaning towards Miss. State and a couple of other teams before she surprisingly signed with Rutgers.

If Vic could land her, she'd still have 3 years to play (assuming they don't let players this year get another year, then she'd have 4 more).

Where's she from?

She is from Troy Alabama. Was suspended by Alabama high school association for receiving $850 for playing in a tournament.for AAU or team USA or something like that.

In that case, do we want her? Is she a discipline problem?

It was not her fault and she gave the money back. Her family sued AHSAA...don't remember outcome but she was ineligible her senior season in Alabama. If Vic wants her that's all I need to know.

USA Basketball mistakenly forgot to check with with the AHSAA to see if they could send her a check related to her expenses playing with team USA. She and her family sent the money back after realizing that it was against the AHSAA rules.. This situation was eventually cleared up, and lots if people supported her through this. Nothing wrong with this young lady or her character. Not known for discipline issues.

And they still made her ineligible? That makes the MHSAA look like a paragon of common sense.

And that, my friend, takes a lot.

She would come into a great situation being able to sit while Y Morris plays her final season. The next season she, along with J Carter and S Cooks, would give us three players that could play four and five.

It was a big deal in Alabama. I believe they allowed her to play in a few games.

Miss. State would be a very good situation for Davenport.

Also, Coach J. Harris is one of the best in women's college basketball at developing post players.
