Hopefully Florida and Kentucky lose before we play them. Still worrying about Q1 wins is foolsgold. We need to just get the easiest path to winning the whole thing.

We can beat anyone in the SEC if we play our game.

Hopefully KY PG is still on "Personal Leave" during the tourney. But then again he will show up for our game knowing our luck.

I hope bama makes 50 threes to beat Tenn and Ky and then shoot 12% in our game. On the other side of the bracket, I hope we get to play Scar somehow.

We need to beat Fla in the Tourney. That is likely a play-in game for the NCAA Tourney

Won?t be enough. We need to make the championship game to get in the tournament

Yep. And we can.

I agree. It?s important to advance 1 or 2 rounds in SEC tournament. This bracket is now set up for us to play ourselves in. Semis put us squarely on the bubble. Finals we are in. The effort played with today gives us a chance to make and advance in the tournament. We are capable of making a run or flopping but we are talented enough to play with anyone

Florida is pretty safely in

We need to cheer for Florida badly. A win against Georgia or Ole Miss would do nothing for us.

If we want in we need to play the best teams possible and beat them. I guess we could hope for an auto bid and absolute chaos with the top teams all getting beat before they play us.

Lunardi had us as the last team in the Next 4 out. So we aren't going to be backdooring this thing unless we win it all. We have to win games against quality opponents and get a little help.

Teams we need to root against:

Arizona State, Texas, Indiana, Xavier, NC State, Richmond, Cincinnati, Wichita State, Northern Iowa, Purdue, Memphis

All of those are bubble teams Lunardi has in front of us right now.

Jerry Palm had us first four out before the game yesterday...
Lot of these teams will be done before we take the court friday
We should move up a few spots before we play Friday

If we beat Fla we have a strong case to be in .. depending on what happens to teams in front of us
Beat UK we are in

That’s the path to the dance.

I agree on our case when we beat FL. I don't understand all the FL love. They need to tweak the formula somehow. We have disposed of all the SEC bubble teams (Ark twice, USC, UF, Bama) and clearly the 4th best team in SEC so how are we not in or right on the edge?

We are in a situation where bid stealers will absolutely screw us this year. Win at least one game this week and we see what happens.

We have to win it all period. Loss to SCar screwed us.

Bracket matrix (which is an aggregate of all these people who act like they have a clue but in reality can't trust any 1 of them because the committee could do whatever) is the most reliable source to see where we stand. We're the 10th team out in that one. With all the bid stealing possibilities, the only way we can get in is by winning the championship. Doesn't rule us out if we just lose on Sunday, but I don't see any path that doesn't have us winning 3 games in 3 days.

I don't think so. We're not a bad enough loss to knock them out, and we need a lot more than that to get in without the autobid.

I'd much rather play Georgia or Ole Miss on Friday.

We could hammer Florida and Kentucky and lose by 1 to Auburn on Sunday, and we're still probably out. There's a bunch of teams ahead of us (7-10 depending on the bracketologist), and there will be a few upsets in other conference tournaments to steal some more bids, putting us even further back. Yes, a couple of those teams in front of us could pick up a bad loss and play their way behind us, but it's unlikely more than a couple of them will.

Our only hope is to win the SEC Tournament, so we need as easy of a path as possible.

Yep. Better way of framing it is that we are 9 wins in a row away from a national championship, but any loss ends that bid. Survive and advance. It's officially March.

Idk... that would be 2 Q1 wins, and would jump our NET considerably.

Yea. I think our chances are about:

Win 0: 0%
Win 1: 25%
Win 2: 75%

Of course bid stealers can make it harder. We do have a decent NET amongst a lot of the other bubble teams, but you never know if the committee will favor that over teams with bigger wins.

While the NET is a lot harder to forecast than the RPI, I don't think beating either of them is going to move the needle much at this point.

Also, it's not clear how much NET even matters. Here's the last 4 in, plus at out teams in order, according to Bracket Matrix, and the NETs as of this morning:

Last 4 In:
46 Wichita State
29 Stanford
68 Texas
37 Richmond

Out:
75 UCLA
51 Cincinnati
54 NC State
33 Purdue
48 Northern Iowa
45 Arkansas
50 Mississippi State
58 Memphis
57 Rhode Island
61 Oklahoma State
63 Tennessee

If they put Texas and/or UCLA in, they should issue an apology for even creating the NET and then permanently abandon it.

The bracket turned out to be best case scenario for us. Getting Florida again (assuming they win) is huge to prove that we are the 4th best team in the SEC. Even if we beat Florida again, the committee will most likely still take them over us. The following matchup against Kentucky scares me the most but with our body of work, we most likely need to beat Kentucky to have a tournament worthy resume. One would think that would be enough to get in the dance but you never know. We have to talented of a team not to make the NCAA tournament this year.
