The Rebs are claiming they had the second largest opening day crowd in the nation and the third largest 3-day total. Where does MSU rank?

Three day total is correct, 2nd highest crowd is wrong, to wit:

Official NCAA stats (national):

Opening weekend:

Game - Series - Average

1. LSU 11,421 32,788 10,929

2. Arky 10,814 29,118 9,706

3. Ole Miss 9,987 28,809 9,603

4. MSU 11,006 28,688 9,563

They played a Top 5 team. We played Wright State. And we had just over 100 fewer people attend our weekend series.

I think that speaks volumes.

And they didn't post their totals until after we posted ours just to make sure they had that extra 100 people!

Maybe they will win the Attendance Championship this year.

Not surprised.

Maybe more importantly, State moved it's Friday game to 1pm, thus taking out a lot of fans who worked Friday and would have gone to a 6pm Friday game.

Who gives a 17. Everyone is making up attendance numbers.

Just look at the empty seats behind the plate at all these games

The pride that MSU fans put in attendance has always been a little weird to me

I actually agree with this. The attendance thing is obsessive. I'm glad we pack out the Dude, but the obsession with numbers is just weird. I'm more concerned with fan experience, recruiting, and winning championships.

If you think about it not really. That is one area we've been dominant in and the best at. We still ain't won a NC. Win a NC and the attendance thing will be reduced and almost forgotten.

In the age we live in, the only thing true and right is what you cheat at and get away with. These numbers are meaningless now. Didn't used to be that way.

Yep.

Just keep bringing in talent and putting yourself in position to win over the long haul.

For the record, I don't remember a February weekend with that many people at DNF. It was awesome and the conditions were not favorable either.

What a lot of people don't realize is Ole Miss estimates their student attendance and as a Ole Miss friend of mine told me they always over estimate. If you look at a game with 9000 people at Ole Miss it in no way compares to what we have here at State.

Ole Miss overestimates themselves? I sense a theme here.**
