In the post game interview, Coach Vic indicated he would be out recruiting this week. We don't play again until next Sunday. Any ideas of who he is looking at this week? Someone for 2020 or 2021?

I would like to see us looking for another big. Not sure Promise Taylor is ever going to make it back to 100%. And I think Jessica could be a beast at the 4 position instead of the 5.

Agree that Carter would be more dominant at the 4. But Sidney Cooks will help a lot next year, and wonder if we will play her and Carter on the floor together at the same time. Those two with Rickea at the 3 and all the young guards coming back should be hell on wheels.

I appreciate Carter's willingness to play the 5 and I think she has done a great job when she is on the floor. My only concern is that she tends to get pushed around by the more physical post players. As a result she is out of position a lot and ends up in foul trouble because of it. We need her on the floor because she is a match up problem with her face up game.

Miss. State recently offered a 6-5 post player named Clarice Akunwafo (Inglewood California). She's currently rated as the #24 player nationally in the class of 2021, and #2 at her position.

(Post players currently have on the roster)
- Jessika Carter 6-5 sophomore
- Chloe Bibby 6-1 junior
- Yemiyah Morris 6-6 junior
- Promise Taylor 6-5 sophomore
- Sidney Cooks 6-4 junior next season

(2 wings on the roster that currently help a good bit in the post)
- Rickea Jackson 6-3 freshman
- Xaria Wiggins 6-1 sophomore

(Class 2020 signee wing/power forward)
- Deyona Gaston 6-3 signee

I have a family member who's a cheerleader for her HS. We went to see one of her games and the other girls team had this 6ish foot girl that was clearly the best player on the floor. Like, surely this is an SEC caliber player kind of good.

So after the game I Google her- turns out shes a 5* player! And her name is Madison Hayes, and shes commited to State!

Having seen her in person I can tell you shes going to be a great one for us:

She's extremely competitive and was the leader of her team, but she was genuinely excited when her teammates did something good and she wasnt a ball hog at all. She played defense as hard as anyone, even when up 20. She definately pushes herself vs coasting on her talents. She did get a bit too emotional over some bad foul calls, but she listened to her coach and doesnt seem to have any serious attitude problems. She didnt shoot the 3 much so I cant say anything about that but she did everything else

Vic is hot after Madison Booker. She is a freshman at Germantown High School in Gluckstadt, Mississippi. So class of 2023. She is currently top 25 in the country in her class per several rankings.

She is ranked #3 player in country and #1 wing player class of 2023. Per ESPN 6'1" shoots lights out at the 3.

We are about to become a top 5-7 destination school for WBB. We are winning with 1 senior and a ton of freshman and soph. We have talent from Michigan, NYC, DC, Australia, etc. We can recruit with any one. The fanbase has bought in. Recruits are buying in. The sky is the limit and my bet is Vic gets him one before this FR class graduates. It's crazy how much he has accomplished in his time at MSU.

Not unless he knocked up some girl when he was 3 years old....he does date kylee Jenner best friend a model.

Disagree there. Carter schooled TAMU when she was on the floor. No one has been able to stop Carter all year. Refs are the only people on floor that can slow her down. She is blocking nearly 2.5 shots a game too and nearly averaging a double double. Not saying she is at Aja Wilson level yet but Carter got moves around the basket and I think she can be a top dominant force in SEC.

.....or perhaps his sister?!

Now, I'm pretty confident it isn't his sister, since she's not anywhere near Moss Point. But I don't think 'related' is only used for children, last I checked.

2020 McDonald's All American, Madison Hayes is really good. Also, selected 1 of 10 semifinalists for the Naismith (Girls HS Player Of The Year). Another Coach Schaefer type player, she's very capable of coming in...being a big factor in her first season at Miss. State.

(Stats from her last game)
30 points
15 rebounds
9 assists
5 steals
4 blocks

This is the player that I compare the most to Dominique Dillingham.

She has the intensity and IQ of Dillingham, but is 6', more athletic, and is a better shooter. Wasn't DD like 5'7?

Madison Hayes is around the 6 feet tall area..according to reports, including her head coach. Some reports have her at 6 feet 1. She's very capable of becoming a standout college basketball player. She's an all over the court type player, extremely active, involved in the action. Very quick, crafty. Intense.

Also, Coach Schaefer has indicated that he may save the additional scholarship unless the right player becomes available.

Cori Allen, a 5-10 guard from Nashville and the number one overall prospect in 2023 visited for the Texas A&M game.

We definitely need to bring in some impact C/PF's in the next year, either as big-time recruits or solid transfers. Next year all of our C/PF except Gaston will be juniors and seniors.

Is Cooks going to be a physical post player? Appearance wise she looks similar to Jessica Carter. I really don't know anything about her style of play. We need a banger type to help in the post that won't get pushed around.

Cooks is a PF. She shoots 3s but has the height to rebound and post up. Looks more like a finesse player, not a banger.

What we really need is another top line perimeter shooter. Texas A&M packed that zone in on us this past Sunday and it was difficult for us to score for 3 quarters because we could not make a shot more than 6 feet from the basket.

And Danberry is really struggling as of late with her 12-16 ft jumper. Chloe and Hunter have been disappointing for majority of the year. Going into the season, I'd say those would have been our main outside threat. Amazing we've still been able to do what we've done thus far.

DeYonna Gaston is a physical four. However she will be a freshman. With a year of experience R Jackson could really up her rebounding. Once Y Morris gets used to the speed of the game she could also provide a physical presence. Finally, if P Taylor heals she could also provide a strong post option.

Both Carter and Morris currently appear to be ahead of her. Mobility, issues with Promise. She just needs to keep working hard, doing her best, including mobility, quickness drills, ect Remember, Coach Schaefer indicating that they had both she and Morris doing a good bit of jump rope.

Promise is just a sophomore, just needs to keep her head up, keep working hard.

Need to move Matharu to PG list. She'll will go down as one of the best we've ever had at that position.

Vic will never go with a shoot-first point guard. She may back up some there, but she may be the best scorer we ever had at the 2. And I think that the chance her defense improves is way higher than the chance she will settle in at point. I love her and think Vic knows how special she will be, but it won't be at point.
