Cant blame him since he probably has no relationship to our staff and were going to run a 3-3-5

We've got some depth at the position, so this helps us actually. We need some skill position guys and some guys to fit our new defense.

While Key would have been an asset, I think it will be more beneficial to give the current staff flexibility to find guys we need to fit our scheme

Was encouraged to look around. Best of luck to the kid

Was this due to our depth at DT and probable lack of depth at LB? Also, does he fit better with a 4 man front vs 3 man?

He was supposed to redshirt. Then he would have been one of 5 or 6 JUNIORS at his position on the roster with one fewer spot on the line.

This was a Deke reach and when Deke wasn't retained we re evaluated our needs and it freed up a spot. We have more immediate needs

Since he signed, he still counts against our 25 unless we get a waiver approved

We granted him the release

I know, but according to Steve, it still counts unless we get that waiver

Every signee counts against your 25 right? Doesn't matter if you release them or they don't qualify, I believe.

So unless we get the waiver, he counts against us and Mizzou? I would imagine you get a waiver as long as he is signing with someone else. It is probably there to keep schools from basically forcing guys into grey shirts when they have bigger recruits to sign in the later period.

Wait, I thought Ole Miss folks said we wouldn't let the signees look elsewhere???

Really Clark?

He can’t officially sign with Mizzou until the next academic year. You can’t sign 2 NLI in the same year even with a release.

Steve says he got clarification and key will not count against our 25

Nice. So that puts us at 22 right now, that's including Lashley. Leaves us 7-8 spots left. Costello would bump that down to 6-7 left. Then probably grab 1-2 more HS OL, LB (maybe OU transfer Levi Draper), a WR or 2 (Adams/Rufus + grad transfer), and an older safety.

We can sign 30?

I believe it's somewhere between 28-30 when we count back the last 2 classes. We didn't sign a full class the last 2 years. So with that and the expected attrition, I believe the number is somewhere between 28-30.

Ok Steve deleted the tweet that said we would get key's scholly back for this cycle, then on the boneyard said we do not get that scholly back this cycle. So unless somebody knows differently, it appears we lose that scholly and only have 24 this cycle, plus any count backs.

Basically key counts against our 25 for this year but not our 85 overall

We don't have 85 limit this year and next. Only 83 due to tutorgate.
