I've followed Army football for awhile. He's elite. If we're talking about Leach doing more with less- Bateman did the same thing with a bunch of West Point cadets. He would be scary with SEC athletes. The other thing I like about him is North Carolina runs the Air Raid and so he has experience being a DC under that system and the challenges that go along with it. And did pretty well. When he was at Army he basically went toe to toe with Lincoln Riley and almost beat him- lost in OT 28-21- with Army talent.

I saw Army's rankings under him and quite frankly was stunned somewhat. If you gonna find a legit up and comer he looks about as good as anyone will IMO.

I?m tired of people talking abt guys with ?potential? to do well as State from like the mountain west or the American conference etc. we need a dude that knows this conference left and right, front ways and back ways, a guy that knows recruiting in this conference, and an aggressive guy.

Not saying we need a current SEC coach, he just has to have experience in the SEC and yes has to have good defenses. There are exceptions for guys like Venables, even though I don?t think he would ever come here, but I mean you can throw ur money at him and make him say no.

The only names I?ve heard was one who was more connected with Judge possibly getting the job and that?s Jay Bateman. Randy Shannon was another rumor but that?s already out there and looks to be shot down as just a rumor. Don?t know if Bateman is a possibility still and don?t have good Info on who was interviewed yesterday? Just a couple of grape vine possibilities but nothing to put out there.

Yeah. I think it?s his ties to the area. HC at Delta St and Southeastern LA.

Walters is very interesting to me. Really turned that defense around when they gave him the keys 2yrs ago. Also he's a secondary guy & with our young guys on the backend he could really help them. Also maybe he could talk Brick Hailey into coming with him as DL coach.

Give me Walters #1 choice. Has coached in the SEC, recruited in the SEC. Mizzou defense was top 20 in total & scoring defense (yes I know Odom is a defensive coach so he probably was very hands on) AND he’s the secondary coach at Mizzou and he turned their secondary into a strength. Mizzou’s pass defense this year was 8th in the country in pass yards allowed.

I could easily get on board with Bateman too. He’s supposed to be a rising star. But Walters would be my first choice.
