Coach Leach told the team that the offseason would be extremely demanding and he?d like to think it would be the toughest they?ve ever had!
No more soft-ass players.

After reading his book last night ... I figured something like that was on it's way.

Just saw that on Twitter. Those players were dialed in. Sidenote but he's gifted as an orator. You just instinctively believe what he's saying is 100% truth.

Y’all think we will grab Feld now?

I wonder if any current players will transfer out simply because its to tough for them now. It is what it is tbh, but I just want the team to look prepared coming out of the locker room and no more delay of game penalties after a kickoff would be golden. I'm really not even sure how the hell that happens tbh.

2 or 3 or more gonna have to block now ... even tho they don't want to.

There will be turnover. I really don't think we got a poisoned locker room in two years though. I think we had a leadership vacuum at HC and didn't have the type of player leadership to fill it in a good way. I suspect the vast majority of the players will respond positively. Might be some early turbulence, but players know when they are getting shit coaching and leadership and are likely craving for something better at this point.

Based on his book he puts S&C at the top of the list of priorities. Most crucial part of a program

I agree, I don't think it went to hell in 2 years but more a problem of discipline creep. These are 18-22 kids after all and I am sure it was a situation of them figuring out how much they could get away with and what the coaches would and wouldn't let slide. But the crap that was starting to come out and what we saw on the field was pretty evident. I don't think Leach will have that problem and honestly I don't see the kids having a huge issue, it shouldn't take to long to put discipline back.

Good. That and defense were my biggest worries with him. We need to open up the checkbook and get Feld and a good DC. And recruiters. Do that, and this can work.

I don't think we have to worry about the look at me wasting time anymore.

I'm 100 percent on board, I just want us to play hard nose defense. Can we have the best of both worlds?

I imagine some will. This won't be practicing over at the Water Park.

That was one thing that effected our OL...... Check with me and then wait while I take a sip of coke, and check with me right before the play clock gets down to 5 seconds and then remember if it was a real check with me. Aranda loved our check with me offense.

If what I read about his offense is true then I am hoping so. I don't discount Moorhead's offensive genius/ability, its just don't translate as well to the kids as it does to coaches and a whiteboard apparently. I am hoping the simplicity opens up the players to be a little looser and just play. It will be an entertaining show either way.

Yep, we never took advantage of the defense being on their heels. Moorhead was so reliant on a big play that if it didn't happen then our offense stalled. He constantly put our offense in a tough position.

We'll see.

It's hard to have both for 2 reasons:

1. How do you become are hard nosed defense when you practice against a Mike Leach offense?

2. Our defense will on the field for more plays now because Leach's offense doesn't excel at time of possession

On the positive side, our defense should become significantly better at covering the pass

Actually pretty good at TOP. Here's his rankings in conf...

2015 - 5th (57th nationally)
2016 - 3rd (21st)
2017 - 2nd (17th)
2018 - 2nd (25th)
2019 - 6th (79th)

I've got to say, I'm encouraged by the fact he's a no nonsense guy and he believes in hard work. There's a lot of holes that have got to be filled in to make me a true believer, but I'm a lot more encouraged than I was yesterday.

And by the way, does anybody know whether Feld is still in play for us? It would be nice to get an update on his situation.

His offense won't stop the clock a ton because his QBs complete a high % of his passes. He basically uses the pass at times in place of a running game - quick, easy passes around the line of scrimmage. They're just designed to get the 'ball carrier' into more space.

The defense is going to have to be in shape. His offense is so fast they will be on the field a bunch.
