have been for State?

What would Mike Leach have been able to do in 2018 with a top defense? He wouldn't have had a lot to work with offensively, but you have to think he would have improved scoring from the Mullen years, and he would have had a top 5-10 defense if not a #1 defense to back him up.

For years State has been able to get quality 4-star (and underrated 2- and 3-star) defensive recruits from Mississippi/Alabama/Louisiana. There's no reason that would change if State had Leach and a good DC. We could easily give him better defenses than he has had at Texas Tech and Washington State.

There might be something about Leach's offense or his recruiting that takes away from the defense, but what if he simply hasn't been in the right places or had the right assistants to have good defenses?

You know he would be able to attract offensive talent and in a short time would be scoring a lot of points. Pair that with any of State's defenses outside of 2016 Sirmon and we would be dangerous.

We would have been even worse than we were under Moorhead. Leach with a bunch of Spread Option personnel in the SEC would be an epic disaster

It?s crazy to me that people don?t get that. All these people people that want to take our personnel and add an air raid coach just don?t understand our personnel that we have recruited and continue to recruit. Same with straight triple option like academies run. Would have been great for fitz but not personnel we have now. We need someone that runs power spread and multiple formations. Pistol, I, one back, spread wing t, full shotgun spread. Multiple formation types. Multiple personnel. We don?t need a pure system coach. We need a coach to adapt his formations with a scheme to run the football out of multiple sets with a dual threat qb. And someone to be creative in the run game and pass game. That?s still why I think Napier is the main guy.

Probably still 8-4 in 2018 but much better in 2019. If he'd still hooked up with Gardner Minshew, then maybe 10-2 or better in 2018.

The idea that Mike Leach doesn't play defense and doesn't run the ball when that's the best way to win are both myths. Just look at the stats.

This. Our offense would have looked worse and our defense would not have been ranked #1. They would have been on the field more than they already were.

People complain we can't get SEC caliber WRs, then we say we want Mike Leach. Doesn't make a damn bit of sense.

Leach would be the worst hire in MSU history. Thankfully it will never happen.

Now if we had hired PJ Fleck, we would have probably won 10 and 8 games... and this board would be complaining that we can't beat Bama and "anyone" can win 8 games with Kentucky, K. State and Tennessee on the schedule.

Here's a quote from Washington's DC:

Co-DC Jimmy Lake: ?We know what type of offense we?re playing. They do the same thing year in and year out. This is five years in a row now. So it makes it really easy to game-plan when an offense does the same thing every year. ? Knowing what I read about the head football coach here, he does things a little bit different way. So hopefully he remains here for a long time. That would be awesome.?

Maybe it's just rivalry smack talk, but Washington is probably the only defense in the PAC12 that consistently recruits close to an SEC level, and Leach has yet to beat them
