I may be wrong on this, but as an outsider with no emotional ties to this in any way:

I think the consensus from the outside is not that firing Moorhead was wrong, but that the timing of it is a bit unusual maybe.

I believe a lot of people expected it to happen after the Egg Bowl. And when it didn't assumed he was there another year.
That this happened only a week or so after signing day also makes this a unique firing.

So i don't think anyone is really questioning THAT he was fired after only 2 seasons.
More questioning the WHEN it happened.
