I haven't seen this posted, sorry if a repeat.

http://www.clarionledger.com/article/20131030/SPORTS030102/310300045/Xs-Oops-Mississippi-State-s-Mullen-criticizes-his-play-calling

One interesting quote:

?A lot of those critical moments, there?s no finger pointing,? Mullen said. ?I call the plays.?

Mullen at least is not passing the buck on this. Hopefully he improves it this week and we don't see the lapses we have in the past.

Nothing new here, he has always been calling the plays... Les is not the problem, Dan is...

and he actually owned up to some bad calls.. things ARE changing....***

Dan is not the problem... We have no leadership on the field... we need some of our older guys (Mojo, Rojo, Lewis, Perk) to help the younger inexperienced guys gain confidence. Plus we have to quit dropping passes. Our offense is one of the best we've ever had statistically.

I disagree. Dakota is our best offensive leader since Dixon

We let some guy named Mullin call the plays? No wonder play calling sucks.

Dak is the offensive leader. BMac leads by example on D, but he's only in every other drive for the first 2-3 quarters. We've got to fix that rotation.

I meant mainly at WR/TE... We need them to step up big time

we're moving it in the FIRST half ... not a lot of ground gaining in the second half so far ... aside from the two cupcake games

It'll take a little time, but I think we'll begin to see a change in physical nature of our offense with Dak at QB. And to me, this will also help with some of the issues with tackling and other physical play of the defense.

I always figured Dan was a micro-manager and he needs to turn the reigns over to a spread OC and a pressure DC then back off and be the CEO.

true... and that all centers on third downs. I think that's Dak's kryptonite.

Third down in general or the third and longs that he's been facing?

Exactly, who in the heck is this Mullin fella?

It's more 3rd and longs- not to mention Dak was 10-17 on 3rd down vs Kentucky. He's getting better each week- just have to stay out of as many 3rd and longs as we can

our failure on third down is a result of our failure on first down

This is exactly why "play caller" needs to scrap the god damn two quarter back shit. It kills the team momentum and mood every ****ing time he brings concrete feet in the game. The air was let out of the team, offense and defense, when the statue of David came in on the 3rd series. If TR plays more than 20% of olays before we have a nice lead, or Dak can't play, we will lose every game the rest of the year except maybe arkansas. The key to us winning, is limiting the PT of TR. Plain and simple.

I would like to see Dan make better 2nd half adjustments. That's what makes a coach.

The problem with Dan's playcalling is that he calls plays regardless the player. He attacks the field in different areas instead of trying to get the ball to his playmakers. Not all the players run the plays as well as each other. He needs to call plays for players not just call different players. DeRunnya Wilson has had 2 targets since he burned LSU for a 60 yard TD. That's mind-blowing.

TR really screwed up the second half against Bowling Green.

I took this article as Dan saying "Sorry suckers, I'm not making any offensive staff changes."
