(Main Rotation...8)
- Jordan Danberry
- Rickea Jackson
- Chloe Bibby
- Jessika Carter
- Myah Taylor
- JaMya Mingo-Young
- Xaria Wiggins
- Andra Espinoza-Hunter

(Next 2)
- Yemiyah Morris
- Aliyah Matharu

Possibly consider seeking a medical redshirt for Promise Taylor. Also, Jayla Hemingway, not listed, is very capable of eventually becoming a very, VERY good college basketball player. Don't be deceived by her lack of playing time. With Hemingway...the coaching staff is dealing with numbers, right fit, depth at a position, what they need now at a particular position, ect. No doubt, defense, rebounding, not turning the ball over, effort, ect...are huge keys to acquiring playing time as well. I feel good that Hemingway...doing her best in all areas. Like the other 3 freshmen, Hemingway is high level talented, big upside. Very deep class of guards.

There's a lot of talent there.

Strength of the team is in ball pressure, forcing turnovers. This showed a lot in Miss. State's huge comeback effort against Stanford. Big key late in that was going with JaMya Mingo-Young and Xaria Wiggins down the stretch. Mingo-Young helped force the Stanford point guard into 8 turnovers.

Down the stretch vs Stanford......
JaMya Mingo-Young (30 minutes)
Jordan Danberry
Rickea Jackson
Jessika Carter
Xaria Wiggins (13 minutes)
Down the stretch vs Stanford, this group helped cut the Stanford lead to a single possession game. Had a shot to tie the game with seconds left. This group brought very heavy pressure. Team was getting blown out.

Came back the very next game (lost to West Virginia), went back away from several in the high pressure, defensive group.......
Mingo-Young (8 minutes)
Wiggins (1 minute)
Matharu (2 minutes)

Also, remember Coach Schaefer giving very high compliments towards Xaria Wiggins after the Duel In The Desert Championship Game win over Virginia. Wiggins played very well against South Florida as well.

I'll continue to beat the drum that Matharu is our best PG if you don't include Danberry in that discussion. Danberry, Matharu, Wiggins and Jackson are our only dynamic type players on offense from what I've seen.

Do you trust Matharu to limit turnovers and run the offense?

My opinion, Aliyah Mathuru has the potential to eventually become a standout at Miss. State. Very high energy freshman guard that goes at it really hard, especially defensively. She has loads of talent, can play either the 1 or 2 spots, explosive skillset offensively, quick hands defensively, and appears to be one of the team's better 3 point shooters. Just young and fairly inexperienced at this point. Learning 2 positions. Currently heavily in an early learning stage (especially point guard related), gaining valuable playing time, ect.

Though just a freshman, she's already one of the tougher guards in the country to stop going towards the basket. Similar to Jordan Danberry, can pretty much get to where she wants to with the ball. Big key is decision making with the basketball. When Danberry first started seeing game action for Miss. State, she would often penetate, and appear out of control or uncertain. Now....it's a lot different....much progress.

Aliyah Matharu

She is the real deal and to be honest is the most mature playing young player on the team. RJ is talented but plays like a freshman. Matharu plays like an older player.

Wouldn't be surprised if both ended up becoming two of the best to come through the women's basketball program. Coaching staff made a great find in Matharu.
