We've probably hurt some feelings with the people in that area of Louisiana with the way things happened with Whop and KT, but it is what it is. Whop couldn't make it on the field with our group of WRs (which is saying something), and KT just didn't fit the new system. Best of luck to both of them.

Which is unfortunate, as we could possibly fill some WR needs down there. Mike Detillier said on Bo Bounds several times the number of WR's that came out Louisiana over the last 5 years was more than Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee combined. I cant remember the total, but it was impressive.

With the new 25 signee hard cap, the sign & place is no longer useful. Particularly with the amount of grad transfers now available.

Would you rather sign & place Adams with 1 of our 25 scholarships or sign 23 players & then get two grad transfers at positions of need?

Can't have both

LSU (even with all their passing success this year) took it on the chin with WRs today...

5-star flip to Maryland
High 4-star flip to Georgia

Maryland? That is worse then losing one to KY.

How many are they losing from the current roster?

Jefferson, maybe. Marshall and chase are sophomores

So one more year for those guys. You have to figure it would be harder to recruit to a position you are deep in. How about Moss?

Yeah, but the Gilbert kid they got from Marietta is a beast. He balled out in the Ga 7A title game last week. My BIL taught him in middle school - good kid.

I'm sure he is. 3 beasts are better than 1 though

Kids have short memories. If recruits looked at our past DLs in the pros, we'd be higher on the pecking order. Conversely, if they looked at our RB success at the next level we might not get a Hill or Marks.

No but he's going to transfer

When? He's missing the early signing period.

Maybe my math is off but how is ranked 10th in the SEC the definition of a strong recruiter? Are we saying we would be dead last without the great recruiter?

I really don't get the label myself. We finished ahead of vandy and the 3 sec teams that fired their coaches

Let's be honest- recruiting rankings are not an objective rating system. Dean, Cooley, and Banks should be four star players.

Personally I look at the caliber of the players that we are recruiting and factor in how they fit in with our team.

Dan not making sure every position group was filled probably cost us at least one win a year. And a big reason why we struggled against ranked teams for years.

Finishing behind SCe and UK is not a "great recruiter". He is pretty much adequate as far as SEC standards. Then there is a big jump to the next level of SEC teams who are all in the top 10. Mullen is proving that you don't have to be a good recruiter if you are at a school that recruits for you.

Here is another way of looking at it. There are 64 P5 schools. We finish 25th out of that group. We would be 5th in the ACC. We would be 3rd in the Big 12. 5th in the big 10. 3rd in the Pac 12. My numbers might be off a little but not much.

Jack .. that's a good way to look at it. How do we move our conference membership over to the B12 or B1G so Joe's offense can compete better? ****

I don't know but I suspect we would do a little better in the other conferences. These SEC defenses are pretty tough.

Yeah - but that is always the case. Only problem is that we don't get to play in the other P5 conferences.

Of all the things that I am pissed at CJM right now, this year's recruiting class isn't one of them. It was a dreadful in state crop. Very few playmakers. Very few impact players. I mean, I would like to be in on McKinley Jackson and the Pegues kid from Oxford, but other than those two I just thought the in-state class was the worst in a very long time.

Our recruiting base is MS, if that is down - our recruiting class will be down. I wish we weren't so dependent, but it is simply a fact. Our best classes have been when the state was loaded.

We need to expand our footprint, but for now we are really dependent on what MS produces.

Articles like this are why people think Moorhead can recruit. I do not think it will ever mean top 10 classes at MSU, but look at this season no decommits and the commits were locked in on signing early. If he can get the offense and S&C working we may have some fun with Joe yet.

I was just pointing out. How I see it with Bama, LSU, Auburn, GA and Florida we will never be top five in the SEC in regards to recruiting. However I do think we should never be out side the top 8. Just my opinion. 10th is not good enough for me but I do agree that when the crop in Miss is down we will be lower.

Tough winning the SEC West when 4 SECW teams are in the top 10 in the nation in recruiting.

Looking at early 2021 numbers, we have more offers to Georgia than any other state. I just don't understand why we aren't trying to tap into Louisiana more.
