View Full Version : State's 2020 schedule just got a little tougher--Mizzou hires Temple's Rod Carey...

He had some good teams early at Northern Illinois. 8-4 in his first season at Temple this season with wins over Memphis, Tulane, Maryland, and Georgia Tech. Lost by 2 at Cincinnati. He gave Memphis its only loss this season.

We've had some bad luck with scheduling the past two seasons. Florida rotates on our schedule and gets Mullen, Kansas State gets the guy from NDSU, Tennessee rotates in with a new/better coach, now Mizzou rotates in with a new/better coach.

I watched Temple a few times. Wasn’t impressed.

Moorhead will face 3 1st year (at current school) sec coaches next season. If he is the right guy, he should be 3-0 considering the schools

Honestly I don't think his resume is that impressive. He did well with Dave Doeren's players at NIU, but could not maintain the level he set there. We'll never know how his Temple tenure would have gone, but it wasn't any better than Matt Rhule and Geoff Collins were doing there.

Could you imagine the meltdown if we hired this dude?

Temple's win o/u was 6.5 this season, so he's over

If not, we should kick him in his rocks. Cohen too.

Hot take: Had NIU hired Joe Moorhead in back in 2012 instead of Rod Carey, they would have been better than 52-30.

NIU is the only fanbase in the MAC that cares and aspires to be a real football program. Most of the MAC students and alumni just cheer for the closest Big 10 school.

I wondered how he did so well at NIU early. He does seem to win early on with other coaches' players, which does not bode well for us.

I thought they hire McElwain?

May be worth noting that he was 3-9 at NIU against P5 teams. Take those out, and his record is 49-21 (.700) and conference 38-10 (.792).

The question is, will he hire a DC who can out scheme JoMo. JoMo should has HIS offense well oiled and running by time mizzou comes to town.

I am now convinced that if Cohen is taking advice from LT like he says he is, we will never be very competitive in football again. Watch this Bowl game and tell me if ANYTHING looks different than what we’ve seen for 2 years.

Hahaha!! Well, you’re right. JoMo will still be running his offense in year 3.

Solid hire not nothing spectacular. Throwing out the Orange Bowl game where he was taking over end of season, 0-5 in bowl games is a bit of a head scratcher. Those were pretty minor bowls so it is not like the talent level disparity could have been that huge.

Maybe we should hire their AD. He seems to be able to hire good coaches... assuming he hired rhule, Collins, and this guy. All 3 are P5 coaches now

Did you forget these *****? I simply ask because in two years, we have yet to see a well oiled offensive product from Slomo.
